This TV is a little over 2 years old and has begun to randomly turn off. IT "clicks" after about 5 minutes, then turns back on. This used to occur infrequently, but is now a common occurence. I read that the Samsung's were having a similar problem and that the fix was a new "ballast" which costs about $400.
Anyone have similar problems???

First of all, try to have this repaired under warranty. Usually these sets have a 1 year warranty. Second, make a recording of the problem. That will help the servicer to understand the problem.
If you are not successful at the warranty repair, the first thing to look for is a power supply problem or poor connections at the audio amp area. I will attempt to locate more details while you persue the warranty claim.
Please keep us posted.
Thanks,
Dan

Basically when it turn itself OFF automatically all the time, the TV goes into "Protection Mode". This happens when there is a damaged circuit board inside the need to be replace and turn itself OFF to protect the other ones from being damaged.
A TV service tech will have to look at it to find out which boards need to be replace. There are about 7 different boards in your TV that would cause this problem.

We have the TH-42PX70A which has the same problem. It comes and goes..It is only 2yrs old, warranty has run out. The moving red pixels are on the black and the cyan pixels are on the white. It will go away for months and then return for a few days. It is not an antenna problem as the signal is still there.I am taking it in today for the tech to look at, but I turned it on this morning and it is fine. So I wont be able to show him.. (took pics though).Everyone says they are the "best" and all that, but every now and then you get a lemon. If it turns out to be too costly, I will buy a new one and it wont be a Panasonic.

Either the buffer board is bad or the plasma panel, sometimes it coult be bad connections on the interconnect ribbon cables from the plasma panel to the buffer boards.
