Dell Inspiron 1300, no sound.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1300, problem is the sound will play through external speakers but not through the pc. Anyone know why?

    Same problem. I had it once before and had it fixed under warranty (sent the laptop back to dell for a short while). It's out of warranty now, so I'm out of luck. If I recall correctly, it's a motherboard problem.

I updated the BIOS to v A10 (available on Dell site) and the sound came back. Not sure why, but it worked :-)

It's something to do with it being the wrong driver in the right package, i've gathered. go to: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R171789&SystemID=INSPIRON1300/B130&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=8907&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=4&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=3&fileid=235761 and install that driver. it works perfectly.

Inspiron 1300 i lost sound
if you are using vista or windows 7 it you may want to check what device is selected under sound properties, rigth click the icon of the volume then select playback option then if headphone is the ont that has a green check means defualt device ,try to select the other device for speaker to make default then try to play it again, if it will not resolve the issue it means u have to replace the speaker already.,

Connect your laptop to an external monitor and try again.

If there is a display, then its obvious that the problem is from screen or screen inverter of your laptop.

Dell 1300 LCD issue!!
Before buying any more parts, attach an external monitor and if the display is OK then the problem is your LCD, if the problem is displayed on the external monitor the problem is the Video card. I believe the 1300 has an integrated Intel video adapter
