Maytag msd2456dew not cooling / not freezing after noisy fan

I have a Maytag Plus Model msd2456dew whish is a side by side fridge freezer. About a week ago i was woken up by what sounded like a "noisy fan", near the top light of the ridge part (when i opened the door). It was early morning and I wasn't going to take it apart at the time, so all I came up with is to disconnect the fridge from the power outlet. After connecting it back after 5 seconds the noise stopped and fridge/freezer kept on working for another few days. Then the "noisy fan", which sounded like a fan rubbing against part of plastic or something problem returned. Again i dosconnected the power and connected it back, and the noise stopped. Another few days went by, and just after Friday the 13th the fridge/freezer died completly. There is no sounds of clicking or anythingelse whatsoever. I tried leaving it off for some time, no luck. Nothing kicks in. Can anyone please suggest how to diagnose this problem? Much appreciated.
