I have a 97 ford f150 the ignition alarm will not stop even when the key is out. It will stop only when the door is closed or the truck is cranked.
The key switch usually breaks or wears out and makes contact. It is on
the lock cylinder. This would cause the chime to not come on, or stay
on. Sounds like the switch is bad.

This is a pic for a 98, could not find one for 97 which may be the older style which is more prone to break.
To get the chime to stop you need to take the ignition column cover off and the ignition switch out. Then you need to check the little wire and clip that is still attached to where the ignition came out. If it is still there it needs to be fastened back in place. once done chime should be gone!
