I suggest that you install the Sony Shared Library first and then install the following drivers & software to resolve the issue. Its seems that my Vaio VGN-FJ170 is been draging RAM. really slow

1-Try installing graphic-cards driver from the vendors home site!
2-Install a Codec pack like k-lite
3-use VLC-player
4-If yor graphics use shared memory , it could be a result of memory module failure.

I need VAIO® VGN-FJ170/B Restore Disks

You can create your own disc from the Vaio recovery center.

If the computer is no longer booting up and the Vaio Recovery center is no longer accessible, you can call sony parts center to check if you can buy a recovery disc for your unit

Go here to Vaio support, download your audio driver, reinstall it and you should be good to go.
