My purple animal DC07 Dyson shuts off during use. It's not the circuit breakers in the house. Wait awhile and try again and then it turns on.
What can this be? Also loss of suction both wand and floor. Argh. Please help. Thanks.

Dyson Animal not picking up What can be wrong?

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

Most of the time the reason why vacuum is not picking up is due to loss of suction. You may need to check for blockages of your wand and hose. Remove the wand and hose from your cleaner when checking for blockages and any damages. Make sure to turn off and unplug your vacuum from the power before doing this. Please refer to this troubleshooting guide for more information on how you can remove blockages:

Dyson Animal handheld brush not turning

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

We would recommend checking it for a blockage and a removing any hair or fibres from the brush bar.

As the brush bar relies on the suction power of your machine, it would be worth cleaning the filter and checking for blockages as this may cause a loss of suction will in turn stop the brush bar in the Mini Turbine head turning.

If you are still experiencing difficulties, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards
Darran

Loss of suction on dyson animal hose

There may be an obstruction in the hose. Hold it up to the light then I use a long thin broom handle to push the clogged hair through it, being careful not to split the hose. This always does the trick for me.

Dyson DC07 shuts down after 5-10 minutes of use and horrible suction!

I have had this problem on two dysons and have solved it by replacing the so called lifetime pre-filter. The problem is not the washable blue sponge but the material gauze filter in the plastic surround.

To see if this is your problem try removing the whole filter (i.e. the filter with the blue sponge inside - you need to remove both bits not just the sponge).

If you do a quick vacuum test for a few minutes then see what effect this has on the suction.

If you need a new part try somewhere like here (you'll need to chose for the right model) : http://www.espares.co.uk/part/dyson/dc07/p/1086/716/6/420625/875479/lifetime-pre-motor-dyson-.html

As I say this has fixed both of mine.

Loss of suction

have you examined the hose to see if it is plugged. take a broom handle and gently push it thru the hose if it doesn't have bends in it.

Dyson Animal-suction loss

Had the same problem twice and washed the filter to no avail. Called Dyson to troubleshoot, and in one minute they had me removing the purple plastic noodle shaped piece towards the bottom on the side (the next time it was the silver noodle on the opposite side). Inside was a bent pen and tons of debris wrapped around it that slowed the suction. Poked the debris out, and it worked perfectly.
