Sony VPL-FE100 Fan Failing

My Sony FE100 (manu1999) recently stopped working. When I power it up it Fires up for about a second and then the FAN FAIL light comes on, and it reverts to standby. The fan does revolve(I can hear-feel it) but shuts down as the Fan Fail light illuminates, along with the proj itself. This all happens in the first second of startup.Ive opened it up but cant see anything obstructing the fan...any ideas? Its a great proj even though a little large.

Thanks jg, only problem is finding one! Sony doesnt manufacture these projs anymore, particularly hard to find in Australia

yep there it is, thanks. I think it is a bigger problem, there are 5 fans I have found, each with its own earth/pos/neg 12v wiring.(Its an old touring style proj) I think I will have to get them out and test them individually as there is no real way of knowing which is causing the fault, unless somebody has another suggestion?

Replace the fan and the fan motor. Most likely it is a internal problem with the fan

Why won't my Sony projector turn on? Projector Not Turning On

Ensure the projector is properly plugged into a working outlet. Check the temperature lights to make sure the device hasn't overheated and shut down. If you are using a remote control to turn on the projector, check the batteries. Be sure all of the projector latches are closed.

Sony VPL-ES7 projector boots up after few seconds switches off, with a red light flashing severally on the power button. Please what could be the problem because i have serviced the projector!!!!

Check the fan connections, one might not be connected right if you have just serviced it. Switching off with a flashing red light usually indicates a fan error.
Also is there a sequence to the flashes? e.g, 4 flashes and pause?
some manufacturers have a fault code table for the amount of flashes.

I have sony vpl ex7 and the power button keeps on blinking?

If it blinks with 2 flashes, it's overheated. Check the filter unit.
If it blinks with 4 flashes, a fan is not working properly. see if any fan is not turning on, and check why.
If it blinks with 6 flashes, it's a system internal failure.

I have a projector (SONY VPL-ES1) and the bulb stopped working. Took the bulb out, and not sure if it's blown or not. I checked online, to see if anyone else had similar problems, and sure enough they...

usually the projector powers and cools down. if you restart it it will open the cover, not projecting anything and after 10 seconds it will close again. this happens if the lamp is shortly before the end of the measured lifetime (no fixed hours) to protect the projector. usually if you take it out once or twice it will work for 1 or 2 more times but the bulb is very likely to explode (not destroying the projector but not good anyways)
