Hotpoint FFA97 freezer works but fridge does not

After being in storage for 18 months and travelling from the UK to Australia the fridge will not work. The freezer does work and all of the digital display works as it should. I am not sure if the fridge may have had a bash in transit and this may have affected it. The fridge freezer was only a couple of months old when it went into storage so it cannot be because of overuse or age. Any help would be appreciated.

    hi

Thanks for the advice, got an engineer out and he said it was not leaking. He fitted a new fan into the freezer section as it appeared to be a bit siezed. After an hour it still did not work and he is off to try and contact Hotpoint on the net in the UK tonight for more info. Thanks again

It seems to me that there is a leak of gas from your unit. This is if you have 1 compressor/motor)If there is two compressors on unit then it can be thermostat for fridge.Anyhow check if motor is running all the time and is wery hot, if it is there is to little gas in system .This should be covered by guarantee.Jan

Hotpoint fridge freezer ff200 tx displays error code A1?

These tempratures are pretty cold should be around 0 deg. but it sounds like you might have a bad defrost timer or defrost thermostat the frost should not come back if defrost system is working

Freezer wont go below -9 degrees

This information does not mean anything to us if you didn't specify the model. In what temperature range a freezer works we knew thanks to the stars.
One star (-6 degrees centigrade) is perfect for making ice cubes and is sufficiently cold to keep food for three or four days.
** Two stars (-12 degrees centigrade) stores food for fifteen to twenty days.
*** Three stars (-18 degrees centigrade) will keep food safe for up to three months.
**** Four stars (below 18 degrees centigrade) means that the compartment provides the ideal conditions for freezing down fresh and pre-cooked foods.

What is the suitable temperature for 3 star freezer in uk summer?

3 star freezers are not storage freezers and will maintain frozen food for a short time only, They should reach -18c when closed but may come up in temperature quite rapidly when the door is opened. They are usually found as the cooling evaporator in fridges with freezer boxes in. Four star freezers are dedicated freezer storage space and will keep frozen food at the right temperature for some months.

Hotpoint fridge freezer icing up freezer and fridge does not work

Does your model have independent thermostats for the fridge & freezer???

If not, could be that you will need to change the Thermostat.
These are not expensive - around £10 if you buy on the Internet.
Easy to fit yourself...just turn off the power, remove the power plug from the wall, then unscrew the 'stat unit from inside near the top of the fridge (some are attached to the interior light) and remove the screw holding the thermostat tube to the rear wall.
Often the thermostat gets a small hole somewhere in the long tube, which then lets all the gas escape, making the stat useless.
You can see these small holes in the pipe if you use a magnifying eyeglass, like the kind Jewellers use.

Fridge/Freezer combo - Freezer working fine but fridge is not

There is a duct between the freezer and refrigerator. Sometimes this duct blocks off with ice and won't allow airflow. Open your refrigerator door and check for air flow if there is none the duct needs to be defrosted. turn off freezer/ refrigerator and defrost.

My hotpoint ff187e fridge/freezer keeps bleeping and flashing how can i fix this? it is only 18 months old.

Turn the second knob at the top to off (freezer knob) turn the fridge freezer off. Then turn it back on. That may sort it. Or you may need to totally defrost the machine as there could be some ice blocking some vents. May need to remove the back panel of the freezer for this (inside).

Fridge freezer.

I had to look up where you are from. Being the U.K. you mean 16 celsius, right? If the problem began after you removed the boxes, I don't think its a circulation problem. The ice build up on the inside, and the freezer being good but not the fridge, makes me think the defrost isn't working. I can help you check the controls for this, but without a volt/ohm meter you should call someone.
