Fuji finepix f50 camera was dropped with lense out, and now wont return. it also says focus error on screen. I have the same problem and Fuji want £88.00 to repair it - you can buy a new camera for £99.00!

If the camera was on when it was dropped you probably jamed the lense coil. The lense coil is what helps the camera smoothly pull in the lense and back out. Now, just to specify, what exactly are you having a problem with? Will the actual lense not go back into the camera when you turn it off; or can you not get your camera off zoom?

Try buying lense cleaner to remove fingerprints, smudges and other 'particles' from the optical lense. Call Fuji, let them advise you.

I just then took the previous posts idea and pulled the lense off and cleaned light sand out of it , extended lense as told, put back together and turned on.so far focus seems good

Hit the lens (smack it on you're leg); that seems to be the solution..........
But try cleaning the lens and the AF assistent first!!
