WD15EARS will not power up, will adding a new logic board fix it?

I suspect that board was fried by faulty power source. No burnt smell on pcb.

I replaced the power board with one from shop jimmy but still get no power/stand-by light at all. i can heard a very quiet rhythmic clicking from what sound like the power board.

1. Do you use a TV antenna like the outdoor or a Dish ?
2. Do you have power lines that supply to your house overhead or completely underground ?
3. Did the fuse at the house blow when you had the lighting power surge ?

If your answer is YES+ANY+YES - your logic board could also blown.
If your answer is NO+Underground+YES - your logic may not be damaged.

As Tom suggested, look for other obvious burnt components or even smell closely to confirm (if you have a nose for it :-))

GE oven is completely unresponsive but I have power to the plug that goes to the board. I see no obvious signs of damage, no burnt anything, not even a smell of burnt stuff.

Hi, Did you check the fuses on the stove. If it was built before and after model year 2000 there still should be fuses. If your stove is still under warrenty you may be able to get it fixxed for free. Good luck.

Dryer will not power

I bet it's the other board. It's quite possible they were both bad and the one caused damage to the other. It was probably caused by a power surge/spike. When you get it fixed, I would leave it unplugged when you're not using it.

The main PCB is apparently faulty on my 40D , is there a cheap fix for this , or does it have to be done at a Canon recomended repairer? The quote I have recieved is very expensive

PCB???? Printed Circuit Board? Why do you feel the circuit board is at fault?

Did you set an "old" film flash in the hot shoe like a Vivitar 283? if so you fried the board's flash system.

Or does the pop up internal flash unit not pop up?

Did you attempt to install a large capacity SD card?

Did you fail to format a new card?

Are you getting an error code like "Error 99"?

Unless you fed power into the camera from an incorrect outside power source cable to 110 volt wall socket OR used an old film flash which generates up to 300 trigger volts, I would have some doubts of the Circuit Board being "faulty"

Hello!Sony SDM-HS73 power-inverter problem

At this point you may have bad transformers, bad tuning cap, you need to check the frequency of the inverter oscillator to see if both of them are running at the same frequency, the bad one may not be. The Inverter/power supply is not made by SONY, Powernet makes the board. Please see what went wrong with the one I fixed.

One thing to keep in mind, when the board turn into carbon (blacken), it will conduct. The circuits operate at high voltage and high frequency.

My canon mp810 was fried in a brownout - any way to save it or is it a large, expensive door-stopper? It was working perfectly before, and I think therefore the power issue is the problem.

Hello.

From FixYa:

It's possible that a replacement power board would fix the printer. Open the printer and get to the power board. Check the fuse on the board. If it's OK, then you need to change the board.

Hope this helps.

My TV has little green dots all over the picture.

You have the problem called "diffusion" errors, or some call it non-erasing pixels, etc.. You may be able to adjust the voltages to fix the issue. The 2 main voltages are VS and VA. The value they should be is listed on the back of the plasma panel. If one is off, then it could be the cause. Some manufacturers recommend turning up or down vs or va by 10% to fix this type of issue. Unfortunately, it can also be caused by many board in the tv.. power supply (where vs and va are generated) plus also the y and z drive boards, buffer boards, etc. If they are across the whole screen, suspect the power board and Y board most likely. I can talk you through all the adjustments but you will need a dc voltmeter capable of handling 250v. Let me know your skill level and we can fix this together.
