In the service convergence mode, I can line up everything but red. The red would adjust at first, but not much. Now when I enter the service mode the red lines come on, then fade and disappear.
Should I replace the convergence board (Samsung BP95-00415C) or should I be working on the ICs STK394-250 (B4F17 and B4F19 on top of ICs)? If it is the ICs what fuses should I be replacing also? I'd rather not replace the enitre board >.< I'm a poor college student.
I can email the service manual with circuit diagrams if needed.
Thanks!
There is a defaut I c drive how can i fix that
Try resoldering the pins on the ICs first. If that fails to resolve the problem, change the IC responsible for RED. You should be able to determine that from the service manual. In that area you should also see either fuses or low valued resistors that feed the STKs. Check those as well.
Let me know if you need further info.

Ck 3 low ohm resistors 2.7 ohms they will be on same board as ICs.

Usually answered in minutes!
Are the ics the exact same part for both? Just different inputs for the different colors?
ok... I ordered 2 ICs. re soldering didn't help, so hopefully just replacing them will fix it. The fuses and resistors look good, so I guess we'll see how it goes in a few days!
Thanks for your fast response!
One more question before the ICs get here. If I missed a fuse or resistor that's gone bad (I don't think there are any, the tv powers up and works fine, and I didn't see any problems when I tested them) and I install the new ICs, would the blown fuse/resistor cause the IC to be damaged upon power up? I'm going to double check them, but just in case...
Replacing the ICs helped some. The red is back, but the convergence is still off. In factory convergence mode, when I push 1 they're all off, bowed towards the middle. When I press 2 only the red is off. The red still won't adjust. :(
The red is crisp, while the other colors look fuzzy. I've also gone into the service menu and made sure everything was at the original value.
Fixed!!
I replaced the ICs and fuses. Then something else on the board blew and the tv wouldn't come on at all.
So I decided to replace the entire board.
Samsung BP94-01289A ASSY PCB MISC-PWR DEF;DP, HCP424
Found it on ebay for $110 after shipping.
Don't order this from partstore.com. They kept backordering it... I canceled my order, and found this one cheaper anyways.
Before replacing make sure everything in service menu is at original values.
I
still had to fiddle with the manual convergence to get the colors
right. In the regular menu, disable auto perfect focus. It's worthless.
Since I had to look everywhere to find all the info I needed here's a summary of what I did.
Total money in TV $190. Not bad for a 42 in HDTV!!Try to align convergence manually (mute-1-8-3) *don't
hold down mute, just press them in succession* Do red first, then blue,
then green. Work from the center out. Mute the colors you are not
lining up! Makes life easier.
Don't fiddle with service menu if you don't have to.
Don't do it without the service manual at all!! You can seriously screw
yourself over. If you need it, google 4226samsung.pdf.
IIF THE CONVERGENCE WON'T ADJUST in the service
convergence mode, just replace the entire board. It'll save you time
and frustration. No special tools needed.
Don't open a tv unless it has been *UNPLUGGED* for
several days at least. Capacitors stay charged for a long time, and tv
capacitors carry a very dangerous amperage range. It's enough to do
serious damage! Mine had been unplugged for 3 days, and I still got a
tiny shock from bumping a screwdriver somewhere it didn't belong.
If anybody needs help, feel free to email me

I don't know a lot, but I can tell you what I tried, and what worked for me!
Thanks to everybody who helped me!! My new TV is gorgeous!
