Randomly the cold water stops working. The Hot & Room Temp valves work fine but the Cold water tap works on and off randomly. Mostly not working. What is the cause of this and how can I fix it. This is a great cooler when it works.
It works like a fridge or ac. When its charge gets low it can't cool. It will cycle on and off as freon goes around the circuit. Must be leaking around seals or crack in line. A good ac man could check its pressure to determine. Also, thermostat could be going bad, I would check that as well.
Thanks Joe. I don't know who to call for this but maybe there is something I can do myself. Where do I begin? Is there a way to open the unit up to look inside for a leak or do I need to get some type of kit to check the freon/pressure?
I find very little documentation on this thing but, I do remember checking some things on one in a doctor's office one time. I think the lower front panel snaps in place which in turn should pull forward to come off. Maybe you can get it with a flat screwdriver, looking for leaks is the main thing, there are more than one thermostat that could possibly be faulty or dirty, I'll keep digging for you and let you know more what I find the next few days.
Ok, great. I tried to open it but was unsuccessful. I didn\'t want to pull too hard on the plastic. The fridge seems to be working fine, which I found interesting. It\'s just the cold water valve that\'s not releasing when pressed. Once I get it open I hope to be able to get a better idea as to what\'s going on. Thanks for your help. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Great, it does make sense that if that valve is sticking, it would detect a loss of pressure and stop cooling for awhile until someone plays with the button. I apologize that there is no mastering of opening proprietary casings for appliances to aleviate the fear of breaking them. I think it should have some kind of pop slots or screws from the back side. I haven't found and don't remember if the back opens or not. I did find some listing of some parts and I think the valves. Actually, I see here that the panel somehow swings open to the left. http://www.partselect.com/Models/PXCF22R... ,I found the valves on another page, let me find it.
The diagram looks like a slightly different model. The door at the bottom that's open is the fridge. The freon tubs extend the entire back of the unit. I'm not sure about the access screws being in the back but I will take a look when I get back to the office.
Ok, I'll keep digging.
