Hi. This is a Kirby Vacuum model G7D. The Ultimate G series. Have problem with Neutral/ Drive lever on back. Very difficult to operate, very stiff and sometimes impossible to change gears. Torx head screws! Used to be it all came apart easy breezy, my Mother fixed everything on hers for a 100 years as it was originally designed. Thanks

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. My suggestion is that you contact the Kirby Co in Cleveland listed below and they will instruct you either to down load a owner’s manual or they will mail one out to you, there might be a local Kirby dealer in your area that might have a manual as well. Ouch...
You need new pedal assembly. Just Google 558401S . I saw one for $16.10.
You can try to fix it just you would have to install it back at a certain angle. clean shaft very well with alcohol so it is completely grease free and use a drop of superglue. However this is not likely to hold for longer period of time.

The green light is just to inform you that the brushroll is spinning. there is a magnet on the brushroll that makes the green light come on every time it rotates. also why it looks like the light flickers because the magnet only makes contact once per rotation of your brushroll.
