Won't charge , but turns on and my charger is working.
The solution to your problem lies in one of the following three areas:
1.) Your charger is faulty and is therefore not able to pass power to your laptops battery.
2.) The charging connector on the laptop has come loose from the contacts. Therefore a bad connection.
3.) Your battery is faulty.
I think possibility 2 is the most likely, although you will have to test possibility 3 by removing the battery and plugging in your charger and seeing if the laptop powers on.If it does power on then that rules out possibility 1 and 2 leaving a faulty battery.

This is a sample of what you can try to do to diagnose a non-starting computer, If these don’t work, realize that most likely a system board (motherboard) has failed or the actual power trim strip above the keyboard has failed.
If it does not, there are 2 possible things I would suspect the Control strip or the mainboard. If you don't get the computer to start back up please put it back together so you remember where all the screws go. Even if you plan to get another mainboard put it back together.

Clean the baterry connector port with an alcohol solution or Spirit solution.and try.
If you can get hand to another battery, check out if everything is fine.Otherwise replace the battery.
Check if you have warranty of the battery.

Hi, Your battery needs to be calibrated, what you will need to do is charge the battery fully or until it can not charge more, drain the battery completely then recharge to full, doing so while letting your computer recognise and mark the full point and the empty point... the process depends on the version of windows you have and also if you have a bundled tool or a program that does this for you, search your laptop installed programs or check in your power options. vista is the only operating system I am aware of that does not have a built in tool, others should have it, just follow the tool instructions and you should be all set, if you can not find the tool or have vista let me know... Best of Luck

The issue that you have is not that clear...
Possible Case 1:
If you have an issue with your computer dying after 10 - 15 seconds, it is possible because of an extreme amount of use, such as
That would mean that you have a dying battery. Replace the battery and you should be fine.
Possible Case 2:
If you are trying to charge your computer and it just wont simply charge after 10 -15 seconds it is most possibly a bad charger which could be caused by twisting the wire or simply wear of the wire itself. Replace the wire and that should be the solution.

Hi,
Good day. You can try to do these steps which is usually a normal solution to this kind of issue:
1. Take out the battery of your laptop
2. Remove main supply, or power cord
3. Hold power button down for 30 secs,
4. Put only power supply in or power cord
Note: do not put battery in yet
5. Turn laptop on
6. Put the battery in.
If this will not work you might consider contacting toshiba tech support for laptop for other resolution. Hope this information will be helpful in resolving your issue. Thanks for using fixya and have a great day.
