SOURCE: "Lens not attached" warning when lens is in fact attached.

Hello. Check the area around the lens mount carefully - specifically the contacts. Make sure all are clean and protruding the same. If one is lower than the rest, try 'flicking' it with a fingernail (lightly) to see if it will pop up to the height of the others. It may have dirt or a particle of dust lodged. If this doesn't help, get the lens to Nikon for a check-up.

SOURCE: D3000 Digital Camera with 18-55mm lens: hi,i brought a nikon 3000 , is it compatible with ...

ALL Nikon AFS branded lenses are compatible with the D3000. The AF lenses are usable in manual mode. Sigma, Tokina and Tamron lenses without the built-in motor are manual mode as well.
To be sure, check the manufacturer;s websites.
Hope this helps,
Andrew

Clean the contacts on the camera body and the lens where they meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

How do I switch to an aperture higher than f/32 on my nikon d3000?

Yes. Just lock the lens aperture ring at its smallest setting (largest f/number). If you need to change the aperture, change it from the camera body by turning the command dial, the same way as with a lens without an aperture ring.

I dropped my Nikon D3000 and cannot get camera to recognized that the lens is attached

If you remove the back cover, there is a flexible circuit on the bottom left that attaches to the rear circuit board. Check to make sure that there are not cuts in the lands caused by impact pressing the flex into the back board components. This is a common problem with this model.

Note: replacing this calls for removal of the mirror box. Nikon stopped selling parts on July 13, 2012. You may be able to find it on Ebay.

Promaster lense fits nikon D3000 but camera says lens not attached

Promaster makes many different lenses. Some of their older lenses do not have the electronics to communicate with newer digital cameras, and you have to shoot in Manual mode. Could you tell us which lens you're asking about?

Error

If the lens you're using has an aperture ring, turn it to its smallest setting (largest f/number). You can control the aperture from the camera body, the same way as on a lens without an aperture ring.
If the lens does not have an aperture ring, try cleaning the electrical contacts, both on the back of the lens and in the lens mount on the camera body.

Tried fitting manual tamron lens with adaptall2 convertor to my d3000 but i get a lens not attached message.can this be overridden?

Yes. Since the lens does not have the electronics necessary for focusing and metering, you just have to do everything manually. Set the camera's mode dial to M for manual. You can then set the aperture and shutter speed.

Is the Wide angle converter (Nikon Wc-E68) compatible with the D3000?

No. The converter is intended for certain point&shoot cameras. It is designed to fit in front of the much smaller lenses. The D3000 has interchangeable lenses, so you can simply remove whatever lens you have on it and attach a wide-angle lens.

I just got the Nikon D3000 for Christmas, new in the box. I began to put it together, and I attached the lens and heard the click and everything. It has an error message that says "Lens not...

Lets get you going on this camera. For the lens thing, the 18-55 Nikon lens is a good one. I'm going to assume the lens was loaded while the camera was turned on (not a good idea). What I'm going to suggest is that you make sure the battery has been charged, the camera is off remove the lens briefly and then reinstall it. I know sounds lame but humor me on this one as i don't think the lens totally locked in position, then remove the battery for a few seconds and reinstall it, sort of a hard boot to the camera, turn the camera on. Did you format the memory card always formatted when new and after you have downloaded the pictures to a computer. The language of photography is difficult at times and different manufactures used different terms for the same darn thing. "Formatting" in any language is cleaning the memory card some may call this initializing. Formatting cleans the card and makes it fully compatible with your D3000. You would do this my going to menu, wrench, format memory card select yes then select ok. Takes a few seconds and the card is clean and ready to accept pictures from your camera. To get you going this morning select "P" which is program and the camera does most of the settings for you while you are getting use to it. I would also like to suggest you look into your manual and see how to check the ISO which is an old (from film days) setting for sensor speed, personally I use ISO 100 but until you get use to this camera let me suggest Auto ISO to get there got to MENU > ISO sensitivity settings > Auto ISO sensitivity > ON. the range of the sensor is set by default but can be tuned to your specifications (I'd suggest later) just watch in the viewfinder the shutter speed and if it starts to drop below 1/60 you may need a tripod because the speed has dropped due to not enough light. have fun, have a great day

I keep trying to attach the lens and it keeps saying "lens not attached" on the screen. What should I do?

1.the lens is not suitable for newer Nikon DSLR, e.g AI-Nikkor or PC
2.try to clean the mount part at the camera and at the lens with clean-dry cloth
3.probably there`s some malfuntions inside the camera, please refer to your Nikon retailer
