Memory card size

What is the maximum size memory card that can be used with the Minolta Z1?

  • ima49ersfan Feb 12, 2009

The manual states that it comes with a 16 mb card, and says that increased memory is available, but doesn't say what the max is. I've heard other comments that up to 2G can be used, but don't want to spend the $$$ if I dont have to on a larger memory card. I was given an 8G card, but the camera will not format it.

I appreciate the input but was wondering if anybody else knows for sure the largest capacity that it can use.

    Thanks again

    Bob

    Hello Again,

The better way is to let see your vendor and then try it for their available 2gb card for testing if work then you spend for it. just refer to the available model listed in this link.

What is the maximum size sd card I can use? Mahalo for your assistance

This camera model is about 12 years old now and most cameras of the age had small memory cards as the camera produced relatively small image files. The camera was supplied with a 16 Mb (not Gb) SD card so I wouldn't have thought the maximum capacity would be much over 64Mb.

Dimage camera unable to use card

What type and size memory card are you trying to use? The Z1 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher capacity SDHC cards, even though they fit into the slot.

I have a Konica minolta with 512 MB memory. How much more memory of SDhc/SD card can it use as it is unable to use 4GB SDHC card. Thanks.

The Z1 uses SD cards, which top out at 2GB. SDHC cards do not work with this camera, as you've already found out.

What size sd card can i use in a dimage z1

You may use any size SD card. Bear in mind that SD cards max out at 2GB. Larger cards are actually SDHC cards and won't work in the Z1.

Have a minolta Dimage 10X digital zoom 3.2 megapixel camera. When I turn the camera on it gives me the message can't read card.

Assuming this is an SD card, it may be that you are trying to use a high-capacity SDHC card in a camera which doesn't understand it. SDHC is not backwards compatible with SD.

A card with too large a memory may cause this message, even if it is a compatible type. Memory sizes have shot up recently, and even relatively young cameras may not be able to cope with the memories offered by the latest cards.

Another possibility is that the card (if new) has not been formatted, or (if used before) it may have become corrupted. The solution here is to format it, using the camera's inbuilt function for this purpose. This will effectively erase anything on the card, but it sounds like you have lost that anyway.
