Try to load printer on my laptop
The driver for the P-400 printer will work in Windows Vista. To install it you will need to install it in Windows compatibility mode XP service pack 2. Download the P-400 driver to your desktop from the Olympus website. Open the zip file, right click the mouse on the setup.exe file then left click on Properties. There will be a compatibility tab there. Select XP Service pack 2 and then click Ok. Connect the printer to the computer and direct the found new hardware wizard to the folder for the files it needs to load the device driver for the printer. If this does not work, you may want to call Olympus Tech support for assistance. Their telephone number is 888-553-4448.
I finally had time to sit and get my Olympus P-400 to work on Vista. I am using Vista 32 bit Service Pack 1.
Good thing I did this as I almost sold it!
Here's what you do: I created a new file folder on the Desktop to make this a little easier.
Using the original disk browse to the Acroread file folder, than to
your specific language file and Copy the file ar405eng.exe to your
Desktop in your new folder. The "eng" is for English.
Right mouse click the ar405eng.exe and select Properties.
Than select the Compatibility Tab.
Select Compatibility Mode and select "Windows 98/ME"
Also select "Run this program as an Administrator"
When I ran it it coped the .inf and DLL files to their own file. Do a search and locate files starting with "Olympus".
Got to Control Panel
Go to Printers
Click Add Printer
Choose Local Printer
Choose Have a Disk
Browse to the location where the .inf and DLL files are located when you did the search.
This installed the correct driver and I was able to print using Photoshop without error.
Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
