A similar thing occurred when I installed Battle Of Britain, also purchased from Best Buy. However, I use AVG anti-virus and it reported a Tojan Horse called Generic13.AUY. I am going to try to return the software to my local Best Buy.

I have the same problem and recieved an email back from city-interactive directing me to one of thier support web pages:

"Please visit our site, there You can read about this problem.
    http://www.city-interactive.com/en/aktua...
Also we want to apologise for the difficulties caused by this situation."

Unfortunately, the web page does not display well in either Firefox.v3 or IE.v7... which I sent them an email about...

So, no firm resolution yet... I expect the false positive is the case...

I also got this DVD combo package and got the virus warning. Did some serious digging. It is not the game, it is a loader that the developer has added to the combo version of it. The solution is easy. I did it for myself and a friend with the same issue.

1 Turn off your anti-virus (to avoid the warning).

2 Use explorer to navigate to the installed directory. I think it is c:\\program files\city-interactive\game name....

3 find the file listed as "game.exe" this is the loader. Delete it!

4 find the file listed as "game.bin" and rename it "game.exe". This is the real game program file.

5 repeat for the other game that is giving same problem.

6 Reboot and restart you'r anti-virus

7 enjoy your game!

Hi,
I had a similar issue with another city interactive game (that I also bought from best buy...). The game is combat wing battle of Britain. The game came with two extras, combat wing et wwII pacific heroes.
When I tried installing the extra game Combat wing, my anti virus software (avast) raised an alarm that one of the file contains a trojan virus:

File: C:\Program Files\City Interactive\Combat Wings FR\is-V8P2K.tmp
Name of virus: Win32:Trojan-gen
Type of virus: Virus/Ver (worm)

I have tried contact them by e-mail several time but did not get any reponse yet. Actually the automatic confirmation e-mail I got back came in some eastern Europe language (may be Polish).

It does help you but tend to confirm there seems to be an issue with their programming.

Best regards

It is possible your disc is infected but unlikely.
Download and update Malwarebytes http://malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Place the disc in the drive but do not run.Right click the drive from My Computer and scan with Malwarebytes,if the trojan exists...Mbam will deal with it for now and produce a log...please post the contents of the log back here if found positive.

Can you confirm if you have any p2p software installed ? such as Frostwire/Kazza etc...

It's very unusual that a software developer has a virus on their cd. You probably have what is called a false positive from McAfee antivirus. I can only speculate that what is being installed is some form of auto updater, or maybe a program to allow you acees to play online. McAfee sees this as a potential threat because of the way it is implanting itself into your system, and the way it is handling various resources. Hence the generic.dx label. McAfee really doesn't know what it is, but thinks it is suspicious. I suggest you write the software company and tell them your story, they may be able to clear things up for you.
I would think this software is most likely harmless, and you may have to turn off McAfee while installing it.

Battle of Britain is meant for Windows 7. Can I run it in Windows 8.1? I am getting an error report while trying to install the game on my PC

I would try installing the game using program comparability troubleshooter

Run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then clickSearch.)
  2. Enter run programs in the search box.
  3. Tap or click Run programs made for previous versions of Windows, and then tap or click Next.
  4. Select the program you want to fix.
    - Or -
If you don't see the program in the list, select Not Listed.
  5. Tap or click Next, and then follow the instructions in the troubleshooter.

    Tip

    • You can also run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter from your desktop. Press and hold or right-click the program's icon or shortcut on your desktop, and then tap or click Troubleshoot compatibility.
    • The Program Compatibility Troubleshooter can fix problems that can't be detected or fixed by the Program Compatibility Assistant.

Will cfs3 work with windows 7

Any computer games have system requirements needed. take a look at the system requirements before you install the game. The HDD, video card, RAM, etc. If your PC passed the said requirements?.... that game maybe work even if you had win 7, win 8, vista or xp.

I can't seem to stay connected to the EA servers while trying to play online games

Its typical everyone has this issue its not just you. Its really common on all EA games mainly Battle Field to have really bad servers and lose connection a lot.

Its gotten better though in Battle Field Modern Combat days it was so bad the servers would be offline for up to 3 hours.

Hi,
The virus trojan horse infect the game, scan first your computer and re-install the game, if you have other anti-virus have it scan also.
