Plasma work fine but outer screen cracked.

Hello all,
I have a Samsung PN42A450P with a cracked screen. To me it appears as though the crack is in the outer screen, although I cannot actually feel the crack. The picture works just fine. Can I repair this TV.
Thanks

It's hard not seeing the 'crack' but basically a real crack will allow the (plasma) gas to escape. if that happens just forget it and buy a new one if out of warranty.

if it really seems as tho there is a crack in the glass, I would just enjoy it while you can, and try not to ever move the TV as it may totally go at that point.

if under warranty get a tech out to the house before it expires. make them come out in this case rather than bring it in for the aforementioned reason.

I have a Samsung 58in plasma TV it was hit with a frisbee. After a few weeks 2 horizontal black lines appeared. Ok, then a month later the picture went black and I only had sound. What could it be?

Agree with other post but also seen to many of these with cracked screens, either hairline or point of impact and will cause lines and either right when hit or after the fact the crack causes a break in the current though out circuit causing the screen not to work.

Broken screen the the lg led tv screen is cracked

Hello, the lcd portion of the screen is broken and it will have to be replaced even though the outer plastic appears undamaged. You will find that it is cheaper to replace the set than to replace the screen. Sorry for the bad news.

Is it worth fixing a cracked plasma tv;in particular a samsung pn58c8000? i am asking because I know a person who is selling theirs with cracked screen. It is a brand new television and is not even two...

No, a cracked screen, whatever the type, size or model of tv is terminal, unfixable. In a case of a plasma it's even worse - the crack allows the gases to escape which causes the voltages on the panel to spike, frying the Sustain boards.
The tv's are dead, good for parts at the best - a new panel would cost as much as a new tv, plus the shipping.

Screen is cracking while we are watching

The possibility is that the heat generated by your plasma screen tv is affecting the outer mask of the screen causing the cracks to appear .
Or it may be that the screen has been struck in some fashion and the cracks are a result , do you have small children this is often a cause as they tend to hit things and you are unaware ?. My advice to you is to seek engineers assistance as soon as possible . regards Vortash

50 " Samsung Plasma TV

Get the tech supplier to tell to the manufacture and the store what he told you.

Physical damage on any electronic device is very hard to have serviced under warranty. I have never seen a plasma display crack on its own. But, anything can happen.

I once saw a man drop a newly bought plasma TV in a parking lot outside from where he bought it and the screen broke. He never even made it home from the store!

Maybe you should contact a lawyer or someone who can give you legal advice about how to proceed with this. In different countries and different states the consumer protection laws are different.

Broken plasma tv screen.....nec model

SoCalRugger,
The plasma usually has 2 sheets of glass, the outer one sounds ok which is not good news as these can be replaced.
The inner panel is the actual plasma layer and if it is craked or broken it usually requires a swapout for a new panel.
