Take the battery out, plug in the charger and see if the laptop works. If it works, the battery may be the problem. Check the AC Adapter
Check to make sure the adapter is plugged securely into the wall outlet, connected firmly to the adapter box and to the back of your laptop. Most AC adapters have a little light in them on that rectangular box in the middle of the cord that lights up when it's getting electricity. If that light isn't on, try a different outlet. Check your fuse or circuit breaker box and plug a different device into that outlet to make sure there is power to it. If it still does not light up, your adapter could need replacing. Also check the adapter box for signs of warmth, as it will generate heat when it's plugged in. No heat means no power.

Remove the Battery Sometimes it's as simple as a seated battery. Remove the battery entirely and clean out any dust, lint or hair that may be clogging the connectors and preventing a proper connection. Reseat the battery securely and make sure the little locking pins that hold your battery in place are securely fastened and there is no movement. WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules
Only work inside the computer case when the power has been switched off and disconnected. Never open the power source. Some of the below steps recommend removing physical parts within the computer. While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of ESD and its potential hazards Remove the memory modules from their slots. Take the opportunity to clean the slots on the motherboards and the memory module connectors. Use compressed air to blow dust away and clean contacts with a soft cloth. Do not use a metallic vacuum cleaner if it touches any component it may create a short and cause damage to the motherboard or other components. Do not use solvent that may attract dust and never poke things like cotton buds in to slots. lightly rub an alcohol on a cloth not to hard let the alcohol do the work on the copper gold or silver tabs and r Allow the pins to dry. They will air dry in a matter of minutes If reseating the memory did not resolve the issue try swapping the location of the memory. If you have only one stick of memory in the computer try moving it to another slot and then boot the computer. Check the memory module and memory slot contacts. They are either copper tin or gold. The colour will tell you which they are. Mixing tin and gold can result in corrosion that prevents proper contact. Look for any sign of physical damage to the memory module, memory slots or the motherboard. Reseat the memory modules. You should hear an audible click when they are in place. Do not use too much force to reseat the memory module in to the slot this can cause damage to the module, slot or motherboard. The hardware that you are trying to access is damaged or failing.

The device drivers for the hardware are faulty or incompatible. Could be a problem with the Hard Drive or the Hard drives PCB http://www.onepcbsolution.com/ There is a connection problem such as a bad cable
Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive SATA
the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty. Although it would be very rare for the sata lead to be faulty. Make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty Computers need power and data to travel through every working device and continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

Dell inspiron mini wont start when pressing the start button the optical mouse light up laptop wont start I tried the static charge but nothing happens pls help,

If the computer is under warranty you should take it to Dell. If not you can try removing the battery and try to turn it on. If that does not work then you might have to open it up and remove hard drive and memories to see if that helps turning on. My best advice is take it to a service center.

Toshiba L655s5065RD wont start , only sign of life is blinking orange light

Okay, what does that light indicate? (hard drive activity, power plugged in, battery, etc). It most likely indicates a faulty power supply or damaged battery unit.

Wont start up

We will see if the problem is due to the static charge accumulated on the laptop. Disconnect the power cable from the laptop and also take out the battery. Also, disconnect all the external devices attached to the laptop e.g. external mouse, keyboard, printer. Now keep on holding down the power button on the laptop for the next 30 seconds. Put the battery back and plug the power cable. Now try turning on the laptop and let me know if it works. Thanks!

My Acer Aspire 9300 laptop wont turn on......light indicators are on (motherboard light blinks once, light bulb and battery lights on) but no power to fans so no start up. have had this happen before but...

Very possible that something has short circuited on the motherboard. I would also try re-seating the memory located on the bottom of the laptop(which could be loose explaining the intermittent nature of the issue). On an IBM I once fixed that had the same issue I took out the CMOS battery and battery for one week and then re-installed and that fixed the issue. But good luck to you!

My T42 suddenly wont recharge the battery or wrk off mainsadapter

If the Laptop wont work off the power adepter, it also will not charge. The adepter could be bad (even if showing a power light) or the connector on the laptop could be broken. The best test is to take the battery out, attach the power adepter and try to start the computer if it starts, your battery is at fault. If nothing, suspect eh charger first. Be sure the pin on the Laptop power connector isn't bent or broken.
