Im in a situation right now that I have to use an old WIN98Se Computer that is not wireless. I am renting out a room and the owner of the home has AT&T and has a 2Wire Gateway Wireless Router. I brought with me a Netgear WGR614v5 wireless router. Is it possible to connect my WIN98SE station wirelessly thru the Netgear router? There is no phone line near my room. Eventually I will have to get a USB Wireless, but I cant for another 3 weeks. Help! lol

Its not a 2wire HomePortal® 1800HW Router, its a 2wire 2701HG-B
I do know that, but for now, because of a recent split, I cannot afford the $30 for the USB device for another 3 or 4 weeks. Can i use the Netgear as a bridge to repeat the wireless signal from the 2wire?
I went to that website and my version is not supported. I may still try anyway to see what happens.....
You can load a new firmware, DDWRT, into your router, and that will allow you to set it up as an access point (not as a Gateway.).
Full instructions on how to do this are on the DDWRT website, as well as confirming their firmware will work in your router. Once you load it, you'll never need to load the original firmware unless you just want to.
