Can't find button on tv to change source in order to play dvd

There appears to be no external button to change the source to play a dvd from a compact player that I just attached. There is a menu button, but that is not one of the choices. I do not have a manual. Can you direct me to a manual and/or solve the problem?

It doesn't work. When I pass channel 2, it skips to 99 and then on down. I wish it had worked.

I'm assuming that you do not have access to the remote for the TV. If you do, you can simply press "INPUT" on the remote.

If you have no remote, try this:
Press the "MENU" button on the TV.
Press "CH Down" until "Channel" is highlighted, and "MENU" to select it.
Press "CH Down" to highlight "List and Labels", and "MENU" to select it.
Press "CH Down" to go below channel 1, you should see "FRNT" displayed.
Press "MENU" to get out of the Menu system.
You should now be seeing whatever is plugged into your front connectors.

Simply pressing one of the channel buttons will switch back to normal TV mode. I could find no faster way to access the front connectors without using the remote.

Toshoba tv dvd combo picture on my tv will not work but picture on the dvd works great

I assume you mean you have a Toshiba TV with a slot for DVD play also. You don't say whether your TV is connected to a dish, cable box or antenna. Regardless of which it is, the fact that the TV produces a good picture on DVD but not on regular TV means one of two things: Either you have the TV hooked up incorrectly OR you do not know that you must change the SOURCE from DVD to TV to get a picture. That is done on the remote with the source button. Typically, the remote will have DVD, TV and AUX (one or more) as you cycle through them by simply pushing the source button again and again, If that doesn't work, you've got the TV hooked up incorrectly and/or it just happens to be set at DVD for the source. Normal hookup would involve HDMI out from the cable box, dish or whatever to HDMI in to the TV. Play with the remote "source" button. You'll figure it out. . .

My input button will not bring up the selection of options it should bring up.I cannot play any dvds without using the opton button on my remote. what am i doing wrong?

First of all, is this the first time experiencing this problem? Second, which remote are you referring to that has the 'input button', the TV's or DVD?

You also make reference to an, 'input button, and then an, 'opton button'? What is the difference between them?

In my situation, my TV's remote is used to toggle back and forth between an external source (i.e, DVD or VHS players), and regular TV.

MY TV remote has a 'TV/VIDEO' button, which when pressed allows me to display either 'video-1, video-2, or back to watching TV programs. In my experience, it has always been either a 'source or TV/Video button located on the TV remote that controls all external sources being viewed on the TV.

Also, a simple thought, are the batteries starting to fail. I have noticed that pressing remote buttons and not having something occur right away could be the batteries.

How do I get channels on my Emerson tv with dvd? I have tried everything I could think of and I only get channel 23 and that is kinda grainy looking.

I don't understand the question. Why do you need channel settings for the DVD? Are you asking what channel to play the DVD on? It won't be a TV channel, it will be a separate video input source setting, usually found on the remote. The TV may show Video 1 or HDMI for the source in order to watch an external source like DVD.

External dvd/rw drive wont play on my hp pavillion chromebook

My external dvd drive also wont play on my chromebook. So I just rip and convert the DVD to HD video to Chromebook. Maybe you can do so. Just follow below steps.

Step 1. Download and Install Handbrake
First, you need to download Handbrake and install it on your computer. Once downloaded, you'll be asked to install the program. Follow the directions on your screen and you'll be fine.

Step 2. Import DVD File
Open Handbrake and click on the "Source" button at the top left. Select DVD from the drop down list. Then browse for the location where your DVD is located. Select the DVD or the folder, and click "OK".

Step 3. Change the Destination Settings
Once you've chosen the source, the software will automatically ask you to select the destination. The way your picture and sound quality will turn out in the resulting file depends on the settings you choose in this step. We click "Browse" for our file Destination, choose a location for our new file, as well as give it a fitting name. We'll go ahead and save the file in the same location as our source and click "Save".

Step 4. Output settings
Go to the Output Settings and choose MP4 as the output format.

Step 5. Click Start
Once you've chosen the source and destination settings, you're pretty much set to go. Just click on the Start Encode button and the program will do the conversion for you.

Handbrake is easy to use, risk free, and we are able to achieve very desirable results, simply using the default settings.

When the dvd player plays EC1 is displayed on screen

Hi.

EC1 means "External Channel 1". EC! indicates one of the eternal connections. If only EC1 is displayed and you get no picture then you have the input tuned on the wrong connector. Try using the source/input select button on DVD remote to find the right input.

If the On screen display belongs to the TV the source/input select button on TV remote.

If EC1 is displayed and you can play movie, than that is normal.

Regards.

How do you access the video mode in order to watch a movie on a dvd play or play a video game?

Hi, usually the function button on the remote control to select the input mode / source is a circle or a square with an arrow pointing into it (see below).

b74fea7.jpg Each time you press this, the next available source is selected in a set order, e.g. TV / AV1 / AV2 / HDMI / PC

If using a SCART interface for your DVD player, the TV should automatically switch to the DVD source when you activate the DVD player (take it out of standby).

Once connected, with a Samsung TV, you need to press the SOURCE button on the TV remote control to view any external sources such as your DVD player.

The ‘NO SIGNAL’ message would indicate there is no signal, if you have not tuned your channels in, this may be the digital tuner you are viewing. Press the source button whilst a DVD is playing in the DVD and see if an image displays.

Can't play dvd player on JVC tv; I don't have a JVC remote.

I hooked up a Pioneer DVD player to my TV and when I play a DVD the volume cannot be controlled by the TV. It just plays at one level and on the louder side. When I'm watching regular TV and the DVD player is on and playing a disc I start to hear the DVD soundtrack at the same time as the whatever I'm watching on TV. I should not be able to hear anything until I switch over to Video 1. Any suggestions?

Older ge tv but cable ready-no remote.... need to find channel to play dvd player on.Recently connected dvd player but can't play a dvd.The tv is connected to a cable box.

Hey wegodsky,

If you're not able to find the right channel on your TV to use your DVD player, you may want to try changing the TV's input source instead. Many TV models will require that the TV be set to an external antenna in order for any other device (like a VCR or DVD player) to function correctly. This can usually be done by pressing the menu button on the TV itself and selecting an option similar to "Input," "Source" or "Antenna" if you do not have a remote control for your TV.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
