Only Right Ear phone I beleive is working currently... They are both identical but I think it's right, either way the volume is low when pluged in and I have to Fidgit the Plug and Push on it to make it sound proper at the best of times, but usually it simply just does not work.
Well what i did was take out the green plastic circle thang and there will be some were in the hole 2 metal thangs inside
just use somethink to pull the closest on towds the cinter of the hole then it worked for me
It sounds like you may have an audio jack issue. The audio jack can be replaced by an very tech savy user or techy friend if you use an iPod repair guide that shows you how to open and disassemble and ipod touch. the parts are readily available on ebay. it may not be a broken jack, sometimes that cooper traces that lead to the jack are broken, then you can solve the problems by creating bridges that replace defective traces.
It's worth a shot, is there a pan control somewhere in the settings? These settings act as a cross fade between the right and left stereo signal. If its on all the way left or all the way right, you won't get sound out of one phone. Also have you tried to use a different pair of phones? The only other thing it could be is if there are internal volume/gain controls. My iPod has these. It limits the max volume I can get out of it. It may have been turned on some how. If it's not any of those, then i'm afraid you have a faulty headphone jack. It may be need to be sent in for warranty, or repair. If this is the case, you could in the mean time fanagle it a bit... Sometimes if you pull a phone out of the jack just a touch it creates a short in the jack which sends the single thru as mono. Hope that helps.

Only plays out one side of the headphones, it is a definite problem with the jack being loose, and from what I am getting on other sites, it is a common problem. Annoying bloody machine
