Check the fuse. Blowing a power supply does not happen. Blowing a fuse often does. If the power supply truly went out, it is too small in amperage. More information on the power supply may help.
those mics are supposed to work for most radios ,,,if your getting good audio reports,,i wouldnt worry about it ,,im thinking of getting one for my icom 735 radio,,how much did u pay and where did u get it,,,,if you are worried about damaging your radio,,get a hold of ranger ,,and ask them about the mic
You put it on the CPU board, its called a (E-CHIP) if yours did not come with one, may be hard to find...You have to have a good steady soldering hand to do it. Have not done any of these, but did a few 2900 DX. ... hope this was helpful...
In most cases I have been able to replace a capacitor associated with the power supply, it fails when the voltage is pulled down during transmit. You're more than welcome to ship it in here.
receiver alignment is beyond what you can do unless you have a good signal generator and scope and the knowledge needed to understand the circuitry and the test equipment, you will need a tech to do this job.
