The tapes that we are using are new. However, as they are recorded on the sound deteriorates then disappears completely. Is it the tape or the recorder?
If the tapes you are using are indeed brand new, then I would assume that the heads on the tape recorder are either very dirty or damaged. Try using a q-tip dipped in alcohol to clean the heads of the recorder. Clean the rollers too and pins that guide the tape. If that doesn't work it may be a component problem. And may be cheaper to replace than repair.

Thank you, Hardtack...I have gone with the choice to replace the product. The tape is no longer moving in the recorder and there are new batteries in it...so, I guessing, that the components are the problem...Thank you for taking your time to answer my query.
Have a great day!
