The fusible link is essentially an in line fuse on the positive terminal of the battery. To determine if the fusible link has been blown , one test lead of your ohmmeter should be on the positive terminal of the battery and the other test lead should be on the end of the fusible link going to the circuit it protects. If the link is ok, then the ohmmeter will read the same resistance as when the test leads are touched together, or very low resistance, usually less than 0.2 ohms. Replace if bad. Auto parts stores should have them. My preference would be NAPA

What causes mains fuse to blow ?


A large short!. A short is a hot wire unintentionally touching ground- a metal piece of the frame. It will immediately cause sparking and blow a fuse. Also, an electric motor can have an internal short and blow the fuse for that circuit.
To find what is blowing the fuse, you have to follow every circuit that fuse protects until you find the source of the short. Look for burnt wires, like maybe too close to exhaust. Also a shorted wire can be bundled within a wiring harness, touching other wires and blowing a fuse. Since it is a main fuse, you will probably need a wiring diagram to trace all the circuits which that fuse protects. Try to isolate parts of circuits, like disconnecting the electrical connector at the ignition switch and then see if a new fuse blows. Keep working through each circuit like that until you see results. If some part or component is disconnected and the fuse doesn't blow, then you may be onto it- it could be that part you disconnected, or the wiring associated with the part.
Find a wiring diagram and see what all is part of that fuse. Good luck.

After many years of good service my Dimension 4 does not microwave. It goes through all the motions but doens not heat the food. the convection and grill functions are working fine. HELP!

i think something wrong with its high-tension circuit or your magnitron is bad.
the minor fault is open of therm stat for protection.
or burnt fuse in circuit.

Failed voltage rectifiers or voltage regulators, high voltage section problems (including very low ohm resisters or wire wound resisters) X-ray protection circuits or the fly-back transformer. Each has their own symptoms, and methods of troubleshooting.

Burn marks on circuit board


This can happen over time, the connection points get a little resistance build up and discolor from the heat. This resistance comes from the moisture, steam and spills. The protective devices on the board and machine are designed to fail safe.

I would suggest replacing the board after inspecting the wiring harness from the board down through the door and to the motor.

Was given a Coleman power drill, model CMD8189. The charger is inoperable. The two resisters on the charger internal circuit board have been fried. The resistor codes have been burnt off, so I cannot


I need the same, but found a Makita multi-voltage charger and have been able to use it. The package says It is for Makita batteries only. HItachi also makes a universal battery charger. I found both at my local Lowe's. The Makita was originally $69, but was marked down to $25. The Hitachi was around $70. You can find either one for good prices on Ebay or Amazon.

short answer yes... Long answer... Amp Failure: There are many different ways that an amp can fail but the two most common failures are shorted output transistors and blown power supply transistors (< those are not blown). There are several types of protection circuits in amplifiers. The most common are over-current and thermal. The over-current protection is supposed to protect the output transistors. Sometimes it doesn't work well enough to prevent the failure of the output transistors but it will work well enough to shut the supply down before the power supply FETs are destroyed. If the amp remains in protect mode, goes into protect mode or blows the fuse as soon as the remote voltage is applied, shorted output transistors are almost certainly the cause. If the fuse protecting the amp is too large, if the protection circuit doesn't respond quickly enough or if the power supply is poorly designed, the power supply transistors may fail. If you see a lot of black soot on the power supply transistors (near the power transformer), the power supply transistors have failed. Soot on the board doesn't necessarily mean the transistors have failed. Sometimes, technicians don't clean up the mess from a previous failure. Transistor Failure/Checking Transistors: In general, when a transistor fails, it will either short (common for output AND power supply transistors) or open (common for power supply transistors). Transistors act like valves. They control the current flowing through a circuit. A shorted transistor acts like a valve that's stuck open (passing too much current). In the case of an output transistor, the shorted transistors tries to deliver the full rail voltage to the speaker output terminal. If you've ever seen a damaged amp that pushed or pulled the speaker cone to its limits when the amp powered up (common on some Rockford amplifiers), that was almost certainly due to a shorted output transistor. When checking transistors, you most commonly look for shorted connections inside the transistor. You do this by using a multimeter to look for low resistance connections between the transistor's terminals. Note: I used the terms short and open on the previous paragraph. A short (short circuit) is a path through which current flows that should not be there. An open (open circuit) is a break in the circuit. It is most likely the power supply that has taken a ****.

You have something in short circuit in power supply pattern, so filter coils are burnt. It may be voltage regulator, or regulating transistor, electrolytic capacitor or even shorted diode at pwr. input serving to protect in case of inverse polarity applied. Check all for short. Was it reverse polarity or overvoltage occured?
