I have a 1609 model. I hooked up the ps3 to the receiver with fiberoptic (audio) and hdmi cable for video. I am unable to get it to play at all. Ican hear the sound but no audio. Also, my remote does not turn the volume all the way down through the bose speaker system
First of All, HDMI is a High Definition Multimedia Interface and will transmit both Audio and Video at the same time all in one cable. Try using the HDMI cable to your Gaming INPUT on the receiver, or HDMI 1 setting.
Are you running a Bose Lifestyle system too? Or are you using Bose speakers only?
The audio inputs on the receiver need to be set to receive the Optical signal on the switch you set the ps3 to. ie Game, DVD, AUX. Each switch needs to be set to receive the audio signal coming into it. Usually on the remotes setup feature.
