Acer Apire one kav10 suddenly blinked off near end of battery charge. Now, after charging, it is not responsive to start button, with or without the battery in. Have tried depressing button for sixty seconds, unplugging, replugging it in, etc. Computer will not start. Starter button does not light up.t.

hi i just refurbished an acer 5000 laptop..everytime i try to install windows it shuts down after 10% start....i have changed hdrive, memory..etc....

results found same laptop works 100% when installing linux mint !!

go figure ?????

Finally I got it working again, after a lot of try's (just put the plug in for a few hours) the led was red again for a brief moment, then it starting to flash orange again.
I looked it up on a lot of forums, the problem is that the (old) bios doesn't charge the batery anymore when it is deeply discharged.
So I put the plug in and out for about 10-15 times , and the brief moment it is not flashing it's still charging. Until it is not deeply discharged anymore and then it is charging the batery like it did before.

But I still don't understand why it is not working without the batery inserted ??

It sounds like something on the motherboard has possibly shorted out. That can range from the CPU to RAM to the DVD. If it's still under warranty I would suggest sending it in for repair.

If you do send it in, please let them know to backup your harddrive if they have to reformat and restore it for any reason. Your important files are still there and safe.
