Format Flash - See manual

I reconnected my GE -29897GE1 Corded Phone to electric power after a while... and I keep getting the error message "Format Flash - See manual".

Help please.

    I'm not familiar with that phone but it appears that the firmware has become corrupted. it may be that there was a lithium or rechargeable battery that held the microcode up, but if it was stored for a long time and allowed to run flat has destroyed the image.
