My radio goes from -24 to +6 for the subwoofer and i had it 0 and i have a 100 fuse amp on the sub. I have a 1000.1 KICKER AMP and i had the bass on the bass knob all the way up. I turned the volume to about 50 ( it goes to 63) and smoke started to come out of the port slot on my box.
As stated before, knowing the impedance of your subwoofer would really help the situation. Either way the link I have provided is to your subwoofers manual (Incase you dont have it)
But since you have said it has smoked, if it still works I recommend turning the bass boost down (Bass boost causes alot of heat within the subwoofers voice coil and even within the amp itself and should never be maxed out.)
Here is a link to your manual for the subwoofer.

So as a solution to your issue, keep your bass boost turned down. You should almost never need it if you have tuned your amp correctly (You have a very serious subwoofer there)
Consider yourself lucky if your subwoofer is still working without issues.
Also it could be the seal for the box. They wear out and boxes get leaks or weak causing flexibility in the material so when subs hit it vibrates the box really bad. Try removing she speaker from the box then turn it up and see if it makes the noise. If not then its probably the box. Let me know.
Hi yeahonda,
Your Kicker L7 Ohms may be too low for the MA Audio Mono block amp. The MA Audio Amp is probably 2 Ohm Stable. The kicker will either be 2 ohm or 4 ohm Dual voice coil. To eliminate the low ohms as a possible threat to causing the map to go into Protect, Wire the kicker Voice Coils in Series. This adds the ohms, so that you either have 4 or 8 ohms.
I am using the following codes to show wiring. VC1+ stands for the Kicker Subs Voice Coil #1 Postive post. AO+ is the MA audio Amp output positive.
AO+ to VC1+
VC1- to VC2+
VC2- to AO-
This shopuld give you 4 or 8 ohm depending on the 15" L7 setup. Crutchfield does not carry the Kicker L7 in 15" They do have the L5 in 15".
If you know how to read a Volt Ohm Meter, set it to OHMs 20 and measure across VC1+ to VC1- and you should see between 1.5 and 5 ohms.. Do the Same with VC2+ to VC2-. you should see the same voltage. Also read from the Voice coil metal housing to VC1+ , VC1-, VC2+, and VC2-. and you should not read any ohmage to the case. The meter should say OL, or -1.
Good luck.

It sounds like you almost/or did blow (short) your kicker sub.
another reason why it came smoke out of our box could be:
- the damping material in the box got to close to the cone
- the box got a passive crossover filter that got smoked.
but it sounds like you maxed the performance of your speaker.

did you ever try putting a jigsaw puzzle together without all of the pieces? that's what we have here. Need more input. we troubleshooters need as much info as you can give us.
1. did you use high or low level inputs on the amp?
2. which L7 sub? is it dual voice coil? 2 or 4 ohm?
3. smoke from the port slot of what box?
get back to me & we'll see what we can do.
peace-out
