We bought my daughter a Leapster 2 for Christmas and it was working fine. Now, when she turns it on it will immediately shut off after the "important" screen. We have changed the batteries several times, but now I am stuck and don't know what to do.

Just called Leap Frog and apparently this is a common problem (defective screen). As long as it was purchased within a year they will replace it for free. They ask you when and where you bought it. (You have to pay to send the broken one back it was like $5). Hope this helps.

I also got a leapster 2 for my daughter at Christmas and the screen dims then shuts off immediately. We need advice. That is a LOT of money for a toy that only worked a month and a half!
I too have the same problem with my sons leapster 2 that i bought him for christmas. I've tried new batteries and have even tried it using an ac adapter but it continues to switch itself off right after the "important" screen. NOT HAPPY. i had a look inside the leapster, but i didnt notice anything wrong.
I had the same problem with my son's Leapster 2 that was bought for Christmas. Only, we can get past warning screen to 'log-in' screen, but no further. We've changed the batteries several times, but there is no change. My son is extremely unhappy, but what can I do???
i bought my son a leapster 2 for his birthday two weeks ago and is was working fine but now the warning screen comes up then it cuts off this is outragous there has to be a solution to this problem. And why is it so many people with the same problem with no answer makes no sense they need to do something.
My grandson's leapster 2 with shutting off & a screen comes up for you to pick USA or Canada & the leapster will not allow me to do anything about picking USA. The leapster freezes at this point and just repeats the same message over & over about choosing your country. This was purchased at xmas 2008.
