The pasta/meat grinder attachment stops turning

After using this attachment once, the square hole that the attachment fits into isn't turning properly. Is this a temporary problem that will go away when it cools down, or is there something wrong with my mixer?

first time using the grinder attachment (to grind cooked meat using the corse disk) after about 15 minutes use the grinder attachment made a squeaking noise. stopped to allow mixer to cool and tried again but attachment would not turn nor would the mixer head. opened mixer to check for stripped gears. No stripped gears but gear for the attachment seems to be locked in place. need to remove or unstick but not sure how

Hi. Were you using it to grind something, if so what? What speed setting were you using? Does the mixer work OK in other modes (beater or dough hook). Did you hear a somewhat loud crack when it stopped working? Your answers to these questions will help me to offer a solution for you. Thanks. ricardok45

Its a 325 watt mixer. If you grind or mix dough often you may consider getting something stronger or turn it off every ten minutes or so and let it cool down. We burned a 325 and got the 575 watt "600" series and no problems ever since. I know these things are expensive. The 325 is more mixer than grinder. The attachements fit ANY size mixer but some are not recommended for use in all mixers.
If its quiting see my posts on "doesn't run at sitr" and "Removing the motor cover" To get inside and clean those contacts.

I can't get the mixer parts in the hole to fit in. The model no is k5ss.i want to use my roller to make pasta dough?

Sometimes the square shaft of the attachment does not quite line up with the square hole in in the drive of the mixer. Take a look in the mixer's attachment port and turn the attachment's shaft so that the two line up.

How to use food grinder attachment

The mixer's planetary is not disconnected when the meat grinder is attached and continues to turn.

If the noise you hear only occurs when the grinder is in place, then the grinder may be assumed to be the cause. Consult the meat grinder's instructions and make sure that nothing is loose or overtightened.

Kitchenaid Artisan Stand Mixer has stuck hub bevel gear (KSM150PS)

The bevel gear sits above the worm-follower gear. I think you mean the drive attachment gear.

I think I have the same, or similar problem. I ground a piece of meat that stopped it from working. The drive-attachment-gear turns if I push it in, but then it pops out. I am still trying to figure out what part is causing the issue - the drive attachment gear, or maybe even the worm follower gear.

The machine seems loose and it rocks. Also, the pasta attachment (meat grinder) will not lock in. Can I adjust where the grind worm goes in?

Hello Darlenescott,

About the machine rocks, the whole machine rocks or just the Head? If it is just the Head you may want to check to see if the set screw that holds the lock in place is still there or lose. The scress is located on the right side of the machine if you are looking straight at it in use. It is at the bottom of the head close to where the head attaches to the pedistool. If it is missing post back to this discussion and I will find the part # and place that you can purchase the part.

The second issue, the pasta attachment is not locking in properly. There is no way to ajust how the pasta attachment fits. I would try and return the attachment and exchange it for another as they are mass produced and may not have got the shaft down to the proper tolerances to fit.

I hope this helped and please post any other questions you have to this thread.

Thank you for choosinf FIxYa for your solution.

I was using meat grinder attachment and stand mixer stopped running

I just got the same problem too. There was a little piece of fat in the meat and it stopped the grinder. I removed it but the attachment rotates a full turn and then stops. The same happens with other attachments even under practically no load.

The attachment for grinding meat on the front wont work ? mixing arm in bowl works fine ! why wont it engage?

Firstly I would check it is fully engaged. If it is, remove the food grinder and look into the hole. You should be able to see a square hole inside. Turn on the mixer, the square hole should spin, if it does not, one of the gears inside the head has most likely broken. To repair this you will need to take the head apart.

The other possibility is that I misread your problem and that the grinder is turning, but the meat wont go through the plates at the end. This is a common issue which happens if the blade is not put in the end of the grinder. The blade is shaped like a cross and cuts the meat when it reaches the end of the screw.

Oster regency parts

There are all kinds of Oster Kitchen Center parts and attachments for sale on Ebay. Here is another site that sells Regency parts: http://www.Goodman's.net

Can you help me with my Regency problem? I bought a used one with the hopes of using a lot of the attachments including a meat grinder (did not come with), but now after receiving the OKC there is no hole in the side of the mixer arm to attach the grinder - there is a metal circle. Do I need to punch out this circle - like an electrician does with an electrical box? HELP

Black Residue on meat using Kitchenaid meat grinder attachment

This is a common issue with the Kitchenaid food grinder. The black residue is a product of the meat itself.

With Kitchenaid Food Grinder Attachments, it is recommended that the meat be partially frozen before grinding. This is to ensure a quality grind and to make sure the meat holds all its juices while grinding.

If any juices from the meat are leaked into the food grinder, the friction will cause a chemical reaction and turn the juice from the meat into a black substance.

Can the Kitchen aid accessories fit the Wolfgang puck stand mixer

If you happen to have a friendly toolmaker with a small metal lathe it should not be too difficult to modify KITCHEN AID accessories that fit on to the front powwer outlet. However Puck Stand Mixer accessories are occasionaly offered on the Web. Meat grinders are very common and original Puck pasta maker have also been seen. Get searchin'!
