Have you tried a reset or a reboot? Try these steps:

1. Power off the cell phone by holding down the power button for at least 5 seconds. The screen should turn black. Now, let go of the button and press it again until the screen lights up again.

2. If the screen is still white while holding down the power button, open up the back of the cell phone and remove the battery. Wait for 30 seconds before putting the battery back in, to allow the software to reset itself. Put the battery back in and press the power button until the screen lights up again.

3. If you removed the battery and you still have a white screen, you may have a software issue. Go to a local cell phone repair company and have it replaced or fixed.

From a power off state, hold the D key and press the power button see if you get 4 solid colored screens (Red Green Blue ans White) this is the LCD BIST and if you get those colors, then LCD itself is fine. in which case you likely have a motherboard issue
If you get nothing then the LCD is bad and likely needs replacing

It could be a faulty LCD cable or the panel itself.

You have a faulty dmd board. That board is responsible for all the tiny mirrors and some of those mirrors are in the stuck on position. Replace the dmd board and the dlp chip and you will be good to go. I would recommend having an authorized service center do this as there can be some painful alignedment needing to be done.


When it powers off by itself, do the LED's on the front blink? All 3 or any combination of the 3?

See if it is the laptop monitor by hooking up an external monitor. If that monitor works, your laptop screen has a connection bad that might be caused by the ribbon cable (if the cable carries the common), but given the symptoms, it can almost be assumed that some type of power problem exist with the lcd layer. The screen would be all white if the common circuit is open. The screen is white because the backlight is showing - because there are no darkened lcd pixels.
In all probability the monitor itself is not bad, it just has no lcd layer power. Another problem could be in the the video board where the output to the back gives power but does not power the resident laptop screen. Most likely it is a connection though.
If you are inclined (and it is out of warranty!), carefully disassemble it and start gently pressing connectors or wiggling (careful!) the cables. Chances are, the screen will try to work. Find the bad connection this way and burnish the contacts if needed, add contact grease (smathering only) and reseat the cables.

The white screen could indicate a bad inverter or the screen itself.The screen staying black could mean the video card has gone out.
