Press and hold the shooting mode and LCD illuminator buttons simultaneously for about two seconds (both buttons are marked "FORMAT" in red). A blinking "For" will appear in the display. Release the two buttons and then press them again.

Full instructions are in the "Format the memory card" section of the manual (page 21 in my copy). If you need a manual, you may download a copy from here.

THE CAMERA BRINGING A NOTICE ON A SCREEN ERROR CF.WHAT IS POSSIBLE THE PROBLEM.

Digital Camera: How to Fix Compact Flash Memory Cards ErrorIt is not very typical for compact flash memory cards to give you an error. If you do receive an error, it most likely means that a pin within your CF card slot is bent, or your CF card has become corrupted. Unfortunately, if your CF card has become corrupted, you will need to reformat the memory card, which means that you may lose any pictures that were located on the card.
Fixing Your Flash Memory Card

You will want to remove your CF card and the batteries. Take a look inside the CF card slot to see if there is a bent pin. If you find a bent pin, you can correct this problem using a very small and skinny flat screwdriver. Moving very slowly, use the screwdriver to bend the pin back into place. You do not want to use enough force to make the pin back in one shot.
The pin does not have to be perfectly straight, but get it as close to straight as possible. Insert your CF card back into the slow very slowly. You should see the in align itself with the card. You can turn your digital camera on to verify that the compact flash memory card is now working.

Sandisk extreme III says CF full when the card is empty

If you've tried the usual fixes like reformatting the card and trying it out in other cameras, then there is nothing more you can do to fix this.

Fortunately, Sandisk are very good at replacing faulty memory cards provided they've not suffered physical damage. Just contact the company to find out how to exchange your CF card.

Only can see 32mb of 4g, originally saw all of it.

Try reformatting the memory card in the camera after your next download of the pictures. that should fix it unless the card has failed.

Sandisk 4GB card reads full when it's empty.

I would suggest reformatting your disk to your camera. We have had those issues and it has cleared it up. Be sure any pics on your camera have been backed-up as you will loose all pics while reformatting. The key is to reformat your disk to your camera (use the camera's menu to located the reformat disk section)...do not use the computer. Hope it works!

Locked Memory Card

I use a Nikon D300 and have Sandisk Compact Flash memory cards. i ahve not come across this problem but would suggest that you insert the memory card into your camera and reformat the memory card. This should clear any errors in the system BUT IT WILL ALSO WIPE ANY PHOTOGRAPHS YOU AHVE TAKEN when formating the memory card.

Dynamite,
have you tried to reformat the CF card?  If you deleted the image through your computer and not with the camera, the computer may have removed more than what was needed...

HP PSC 1610 All-In-One - Memory card Error

Pulling out the card without using the 'Safely remove Hardware feature' risks corrupting data on the card. Reformat the card in the camera. Also with compact flash it is a simple matter to wreck the some of the tiny pins in the card slot. Check out both these and come back
