I have a sansa c240 and can't see any music files when i connect it to my computer (windows XP basic), i unhid the music folder but no music inside.
Due to DRM restrictions in Windows XP and Vista, you have to use Windows Media Player to sync playlists to the Sansa C240. It looks like WinAmp will do it too, but I didn't actually test it. I have not been able to sync files to the microSD card, but was able to copy mp3 files to the card using a separate card reader.
I also recommend that you check out RockBox. It is an alternative operating system for portable media players and they have a version for the C240. It gives you a lot of additional functionality, including some games (if you are interested in that).
Follow up on previous post:
I found out the my 4GB card was microSDHC, which is not supported by the C240. Using RockBox, my C240 can read the higher capacity cards, but cannot write to them.
