DI-524 status problem

My DI-524 router shows status led blinking all the time. On ether my computers that are hooked up on this router I am not able to access the internet. I tried to reset it several times, even holding the reset button for 10s and by unplugging the electrical cord.
Is it dead or can I fix it.

Thanks,

Dj

The status indicator is blinking really fast. No connection either through cable or wireless. Have tried turning it off. Resetting it. Holding the reset button for more than a minut.
Unable to access the setup menu on the router.

Did this happen after a firmware upgrade? If so, this link may help:

http://borgetech.blogspot.com/2007/09/d-link-di-524-revision-b4-status-light.html

Apparently there's a utility which will force firmware to load on the router. The steps are a bit technical, though.

If that doesn't work, the router is probably toast. Time for a new one.

You are going to have to find a software that helps you force reinstall the Firmware. Something went wrong somewhere, I know the software exists, i used it to install a 3rd Party Firmware on my linksys to gain Access Point Functionality

DI-524 status led not blinking

Here are the instructions

  1. Make sure that you have a copy of the latest firmware and it has an *.exe file with it. Because the router's configuration page won't be available, you'll be needing the exe to some sort of force the firmware upgrade procedure.
  2. Unplug everything attached to your router except the power cable and LAN cable connected to your pc.
  3. Configure your TCP/IP with this info: IP:192.168.123.253, Default mask:255.255.255.0, Default Gateway:192.168.123.254 and DNS Server:192.168.123.254 (Use only 1 DNS server). Save this new configuration and reboot your pc.
  4. Unplug the power cable to your router as the pc reboots. When everything is up and running, plug the power cable. The status led will be flashing like crazy. It's normal.
  5. Use the exe file to upgrade your firmware. Make sure that the utility file (exe file) is able to recognize your router or else you won't be able to do a firmware upgrade. Now this may take a while, keep pressing the Refresh button to recognize your router. Once recognized you would see there 192.168.0.1 crash. Once you have this, you can now press the upgrade button.
  6. Wait for a while until the unit finishes the upgrade and once done, I think you have recovered the life of your router from the pits of hell. Hahahaha.
  7. You can now unplug the power of the router and restart your pc, see if everything is doing fine.
Hope this helps.

Di 524 wireless router

Hello, I was just wondering if you have tried to plug into your D-link with the cable? If so, does it work then, If so look into your routers wireless settings and make sure your wireless is turned on. Also try rebooting your operating system. I've noticed on my linksys that sometimes I have to reboot my notebooks operating system when It also does not show status light. I sure hope that help you. If not we can also look into it further with a little more information. Thanks Hope it helps
