Broken Screen on Nuvi 260w

it sounds like the unit has been dropped and has cracked on the inside of the screen. we see this a lot with mobile phones. you may need to have the internal screen replaced.

Bad news there. Cheaper to buy a new one. And less aggravating too.

The LCD needs to be replaced, the part is listed on ebay. There is a GPS Repair Guide thatshows you how to open a GPS device. There isalso a third party Garmin repair service that can do it for you.

It sounds like the ribbon cable that connects the screen to the controller might be seated incorrectly. I would check that.

did your huband know if they brought it at best buy or where they go it.
chances are it might still be under warranty
If that is the case take it there or call them and see what you can do.
otherwise see if you can locate a garmin shop around your area by going on the garmin
web page garmin.com

You can contact Garmin and send in the unit for an estimate, or
if it's not covered by your warranty, there is a site which repairsbroken screens on Garmin Nuvi's and their prices are VERY reasonable.They will also update your firmware for free while it's in the shop.
