How do I clean out my waste ink on my Canon IP 2200 printer

I keep getting a message that my waste ink is full.

Hi. I researched on this and found that these steps have fixed the problems most of time. Also, it does the required procedure automatically.

Canon Pixma iP1200, iP1600, iP2200 Resetter

  1. Download software for Canon iP1200, iP1600, 2200 Printers.DOWNLOAD Service Tool Software for Canon Pixma Printer iP1200, iP1600, iP2200
  2. Unzip downloaded file by WinZip, 7Zip, Izarc, etc
  3. Run GeneralTool.exe
  4. Select the connected USB port number from USB PORT
  5. Click LOCK RELEASE, and select the applicable model name in SET DESTINATION
  6. In CLEAR WASTE INK COUNTER, select MAIN or PLATEN. The selectedwaste ink counter will be reset. MAIN resets the main waste inkcounter, PLATEN resets the platen waste ink counter.
If both the main and platen waste ink absorbers are replaced, reset both the main and platen waste ink counters.

* Download General Tool for Canon iP1200, iP1600, 2200 Printers. Download GeneralTool
* Extract downloaded file the run the software by click GeneralTool.exe.
* Select the connected usb port number from usb port then click lock Release then select the applicable model name in set destination setting.

Canon Pixma Ip1700 will not print, because the Ink absorber is full.
Hi there
Please under-stand at some time you will need to clean out the waste inkpads that are inside your printer or it going to be a big mess of inks coming out.
Some times the IP tools will fix it Canon Pixma iP1200, iP1600, iP2200 Resetter
1. Download software for Canon iP1200, iP1600, 2200 Printers.DOWNLOAD Service Tool Software for Canon Pixma Printer iP1200, iP1600, iP2200
2. Unzip downloaded file by WinZip, 7Zip, Izarc, etc
3. Run GeneralTool.exe
4. Select the connected USB port number from USB PORT

I have a Canonmp390 printer & a message keeps
Hi there,
Error "Waste Ink Near Full"
Cause : The waste ink tank (which holds the ink used for print head cleaning) is nearly full.
Action : Contact the Canon Customer Care - Center.

Where is the waste ink absorber on the pixma ip2200

You can try this it some times works.

Super Canon User's method of resetting IP1600
1.Press Resume button hold for 1 - 2 minutes (count to 1 to 15-16)
2.Open the cover right away
3.Release Both cartridges out and then put cartridges them back again
4.Close The Cover
5.Turn Off Then Turn On again.

Waste ink absorber on canon iP 1600
For Canon ip1000 and ip1600, maybe others

1. remove cartridges
2. unplug AC power
3. hold power button and plug AC power (keep holding power button.
4. press resume 4 times


The waste ink counter should be reset by now
