Windows media player won't burn music anymore to disk
I first pushed on "Burn"
Then I get command to drag items to burn, which I did.
I inserted blank disk and pressed commmand to start burn as prompted
It rejected disk and open door to drive.. I used another disk. same
result.
I think the program is corrupt and do not know how to fix it. I am
using windows Vista upgrade( windows XP plus Vista)
Has anybody any idea how to solve my problem??
Windows player works all right insofar as loading and playing music,
but I cannot burn.
How do I burn??

After you install Windows Vista on a computer that uses an SiI Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment (PATA) chip from Silicon Image, the computer does not recognize an attached optical drive as a drive that supports recording. Therefore, you cannot use the computer to burn CDs or DVDs.
This problem occurs because the SCSIport driver does not populate the correct number of bytes for an IOCTL_STORAGE_QUERY_PROPERTY Request Packet (IRP) when the device does not return a correct serial number.

There are tons of other applications available for free that you can use to burn with in the meantime!

If you want to try and fix Media Player, I would first uninstall it from add/remove programs first (if possible) then reinstall it by running Microsoft Updates. If you can't uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs, just try running Microsoft Updates - there may be an update to Media Player available that you're missing.
