SOURCE: Dell Optiplex GX260 Tower flashing yellow power button

Hi

Power up the Optiplex GX260 and check the QUAD Pack Diagnostics LEDs (located at the back). Compare the LED pattern to http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx260/en/ug/solvprob.htm#1167139 for more info.

Ideally, to troubleshoot and resolve the issues, try removing all PCI devices, disconnect all external devices/peripherals including keyboard and mouse. You may leave the Monitor connected. Power up the PC and check for successful Power On Self Test (POST). If POST completes (generally fails on "Keyboard not present"), shutdown, connect keyboard and try POST again.

If all goes well, install PCI devices one at a time and test successful POST. This will help identity a failing device.
If issue persists, after removing all devices, remove the CMOS battery for about 90 seconds and try POST again. If same, remove all DIMMs (Memory) and check for beep codes. Compare beep pattern to http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx260/en/ug/solvprob.htm#1176760.
NB: Ensure to remove power lead and press power button briefly to use up flea power before working in the system.

If the system beeps, it suggests that the CPU and systemboard are "likely" fine. Install one DIMM at a time and test successful POST. If there no beeps then the systemboard and/or CU is/are at fault.

Regards
Mike

SOURCE: pover up trouble

sounds like something is drawing down on your 12 volt supply drives or on board regulators. Try it without the drives connectged, and see if you can get the system to boot up(you'll just get a notice that your drives are unavailable, but you'll already know that, right?

got backup for your Dell?

SOURCE: [Ithr]checkpoint failure dell 8400 dimension

What can cause this error?

Well, this is the problem since quite a variety of problems can trigger the error.

1: the bios can be malfunctioning (a bios reset or flash can give a solution)
2: the cpu can be malfunctioning (this requires a new cpu)
3: the cpu socket can be failing (this requires a new mb)
4: the problem can be with bad usb sockets
5: even a bad uplink to a usb hub can cause this error to appear.
Did you change your monitor lately? I would chase down the USB things first...that and the monitor seem to trip the trigger...
Hope this get you started- I think you were right on target with the flash of the BIOS-try it again using the BIOS flash downloaded from the dell site...and to run the chipset again...it just might
Good luck my friend, hope this helps, please leave rating, thank you kindly

SOURCE: start button flashes yellow - will not turn on

I have found that if the CMOS battery is removed and the unit unpluged for 5 mins (reseting the unit to default config) It will restart. The battery should not be replaced thus to maintain your date and time settings, it shoud not be unpluged for long periods.

A solid green light means the computer is operating normally.

A solid yellow:- the power is operating fine but your computer not processing data. This could mean there is a problem with the CPU or another component on the motherboard.

A blinking yellow light: power supply is receiving power from the wall, but not functioning properly. This generally means the power supply itself is bad and should be tested or replaced.

I powered off my Dell Optiplex 745 as normal one night before bed. The next morning I went to turn it on and it just displayed a yellow flashing light where it normally displays a green light. The fan did...

Hello,

This model has been having problems with the motherboard that can cause that exact problem, Not powering up, Flashing yellow light or locking up right after booting up. The first thing to check is parts called capacitors on the motherboard. We have an article posted on our web site at: http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/dell-optiplex-745-repair/ that has detailed pictures and information about this issue. The pictures are of the tower case Optilpex 745 but the board is the same for your unit. Check it out and see if your board has this issue. If you can solder then you should be able to fix it yourself for less than $15.00 If your board does not have the bad capacitors then the blinking yellow light is a failure in the power supply unit.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Dell latatude D630 is docked/battery flashing 4 red 1 green

4 orange and 1 green can mean a battery malfunction, or it could be an indication that the battery is about to reach the end of its life cycle. When a battery is built, it has a planned expectancy. a date code is stamped in the electronics of the battery pack. as that date code is reached, the indicator lights on the computer let you know the battery (even if its working fine) is considered obsolete and needs to be replaced soon.

Dell 9400 wont show AC power icon

If the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, the about10.jpg light operates as follows:
  • Solid green: The battery is charging.

  • Flashing green: The battery is almost fully charged.

If the computer is running on a battery, the about41.jpg light operates as follows:
  • Off: The battery is adequately charged (or the computer is turned off).

  • Flashing orange: The battery charge is low.

  • Solid orange: The battery charge is critically low.
Looks like the AC adaptor is faulty.

My dell inspiron want boot up

If your batter has gone bad (won't hold a charge) then it may not even have enough power to complete a boot up sequence. It will simply shut off from lack of power.

Plug it into an outlet and try booting it up with AC power. If that works, then most likely your battery is NG (no good).

If it acts the same way on AC power, then see if you can borrow another power cord and try it again. If that works, then the converter on your power cord has gone bad and you need a new one of those.

Green and yellow lights flashes where the charging icon apears

There are a few LED lights on all laptops if that's what you mean, each usually have a symbol to indicate their meaning, the meanings can vary according to colour as well. For example mine has a picture of satellite dish (wi fi) which flashes orange as it communicates with my wireless router, there's a battery which is green when plugged in and orange when using battery. I have a bluetooth icon as well. There should also be one for the computer being on.

You can't as far as I know do much about them. Aside from sticking bluetac over them :-)

Dell latitude D600 battery charge light flashing

Go to support.dell.com and download the latest bios firmware to update it. If it still does not work then most likely it is already a hardware issue so you need to contact dell support for the hardware issue.
