Get nothing but long beeps 5 sec. apart.nothing on the screen.reset mem.tapped f12,f2,f10 nothing wind. xp
When one states, "get nothing but long beeps 5 sec. apart.",
one makes one think there is more than ONE LONG beep.
2 beeps, the 5 sec pause, then 2 beeps, etc.
Now in your own words ma'am, just describe what you saw.
Light hair, fair complexion, and he was riding a Harely you say?
!O_O! What?
Oh...........I mean.................
How many beeps occurred at one time?
Just curious
In the meantime unplug the computer from power.
Open the computer case
FOLLOW Anti-Static Precautions
Use a can, or two of compressed air for computers, and clean the inside of the computer out.
Remove the finned Heatsink off of the Processor.
THOROUGHLY clean the top of the Processor, and bottom of the Heatsink.
PROPERLY apply new, fresh, Thermal Paste.
PROPERLY reinstall Heatsink.

F) Anti-Static Precautions:
Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out,
(Short Circuit), the delicate hardware components inside a computer.
Relieve your body of Static BEFORE reaching inside your computer.
Computer ON a table, computer unplugged from power, computer case open;
TOUCH an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of the open computer case
This action will relieve your body of Static.
IF you leave your computer in the middle of working on it, be SURE to Touch the metal frame again upon your return.
A Processor is the MOST susceptible hardware computer component to Static shock.
The Top of a Processor, and the Bottom of a Heatsink; are not perfectly smooth.
A magnified view would detail, "Hills, Valleys, and Pitholes'.
When the two parts are mated together Air Pockets are created.
Air is an Insulator, not Conductor.
Thermal Paste fills the above imperfections, and is an Excellent conductor of heat.
Thermal Paste will dry up over time, and heat.
Looses it's thermal conductivity properties.
Processor overheats due to dried up Thermal Paste?
Fan runs full bore trying to keep Processor cooled to proper temperature.

Hi!
Please check for the cables coming into the motherboard from the power supply. Also try and check for any loose cables.
If that doesn't help then please get your power supply changed as its faulty.
Please rate this solution.
Thanks

SOURCE: sr 1430 start up problem, during boot up, a screen
Is it throwing up a 'disk read' or 'no physical drive installed' error?
In most cases, a boot error in bios (the pre-installed program a computer uses prior to loading an operating system such as Windows, Linux or Mac OSX) usually points to:
- disconnected cables running from the board to the hard drive(s)
- malfunctioning ports (IDE ports especially)
- dead or dying hard drive(s)
Open the case (if you don't mind voiding a warranty that you may still have) and check the cables that run from your drive(s) to the board and from the power supply to the hard drive(s) to ensure that the cables are firmly attached at all ends.
If so, the best way to test a hard drive without spending at least $100.00 for diagnostics is to install it(or them) into another computer and boot. If that computer boots with your drive(s), the problem may be on the board or with the PSU (power supply unit). In either case, you'll probably be looking at anywhere between $100.00 and $200.00 to replace.
Before you do anything, though, there's a button battery attached to the board; remove that for about a half hour, reattach it then try to boot. Sometimes this can clear up boot issues.
If the hard drive has died, DO NOT dispose of it. Most people think that their data is lost in the death of a drive and that's not true. Take it to a professional 'computer guy' and have the data extracted and saved to a new drive. The cost should be around $100.00 for data recovery... no more than that unless a new drive is part of the deal.

sound like either the memory is incorrect or u may need to load the default settings in the BIOS
enter the BIOS / setup screen for the motherboard and see if the system shows the 2 gig installed
see the adding memory guide below and it will explain everything

SOURCE: Computer Power comes on, shows compaq first
I had this problem with my SR1420NX. The problem lasted for quite awhile. Sometimes it would simply powered down abruptly and not power up for hours. I vacuumed the unit several times thinking the unit might be overheating, but it did not help. I finally used a small air compressor and blew out all the dust. Using the compressor to blow it out seems to have worked. It's been running continuously for over a month now.
Take care not to blow on the fans to the point it does them damage due to overspeed.

is your key board usb port if not use usb and reboot
or PS2(some how round port ) keys might work.
