Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

White spots are just emerging on my 50 inch Samsung DLP TV everyday. It started with one two days ago and now there are almost 30, I gueww in two weeks the sreen would be covered.

Help This Is outrageous !!!! Same for my SAMSUNG DLP , I have a 46 inch, it started with one small white spot. It hasn't even been a week and there's at least 20 !! I emailed SAMSUNG and of course didn't get a response. My TV is about three years old.. I agree with boycotting SAMSUNG ! They are very crappy and should be ashamed to sell a product like this, and I will be sure to keep spreading the word NOT TO BUY SAMSUNG !

We're having the same problem. Our Samsung DLP is just over 1 year old and started developing white spots on the screen. Started with one, now have another 5 over the next two days.

See link below for "field of stars" fix:

Worked a charm on my 50" Samsung DLP. Read thread carefully as there are 2 different version of the DMD chip you will need to replace. I ended up fixing mine for less than $165!

My Samsung 72" DLP started having these same issues. Model # HLT7288WX/XAA

They will not fix this as they say it is "NOT" part of their known model numbers that all have the same exact issue.

Pretty ridiculous if you ask me since this is a known issue with their DLP tv's regardless of the model number.

Now I have to pay upwards of $500 to get this fixed.

Don't buy Samsung folks unless you also buy the extended warranty. How unfortunate.

White spots are just emerging on my 46inch

There seems to be an issue with your DMD board, which is the on in charge of the pixelation. What you can do to confirm if it's indeed the DMD board, is the following: GO to the menu on the TV and if the dots show in the menu, it's your DMD board, but if they don't the issue might be with one of your Video Boards.

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

Mine is having the same problem. It started around Memorial Day and is only getting worse. One white dot is now a dozen. I called Samsung several times and was given the brush off. They clearly know this is a problem and are failing to respond to the problem in hopes that people will deal with it on their own. It does not matter if your warranty is expired. This is a latent product defect. They are still liable and obligated to fix the problem. I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau. If the company does not respond, I'm taking this to small claims court to get reimbursed for any cost to fix my tv.

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

If your Mitsubishi TV has white spots in the picture , you can call Mitsubishi @ 1-800-332-2119 and request a free DLP Chip to fix the problem. They will send the New DLP Chip at no charge to a TV Tech in your area to install it for $200 flat rate. That is about a $250 savings if you had to pay for the chip . Call them with your TV's Model number and serial number and let them know when and where you bought the TV.
It saved me some hard earned money and now my TV is like New !

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

same problem for me ... check out this thread on AVSforums about it.

I have the same exact tv as you and had the same problem. I took it to a repair shop who told me I needed a new DMD chip and that it would be 850 to fix. I used the information in thread above to get the part number and bought the chip on ebay for under 200. Here is a link to the listing CHIP

People have had good success. I will be replacing mine tomorrow.

White spots on screen and growing every day

If these spots are small, they are likely the visual effect of a failing DLP chip. When some of the tiny mirrored surfaces on the chip stop moving, this is the result. This is not something you can fix yourself. A Samsung authorized service center will charge $400-$500 to replace it for you.
