Mitsubishi WD-73735 will not turn on and there are no lights on front. The power supply was replaced, and is brand new. I fix HDTVs, and have had very little problem resolving other issues with other TVs. This one is strange. Need help, please. When I plug it in, you can hear the PS get power, but nothing turns on. Tried the 'Menu' and 'Input' combination....nothing. Tried plugging it in, with the 'Menu' button pushed...nothing. I can hit the 'Reset' button on the front, and there is a slight 'click' noise form the back, but again, nothing. I took it apart most all the way, and noticed no bulging capacitors, or anything out of the norm. Glass fuses didn't look blown, but it acts like maybe a fuse somewhere is blown. Checked all connections, and the only one that seems a little 'floppy' is the one that the lamp plugs into, but it seems to connect okay. The guy I bought this TV from said that it died out of the blue, with no warning, and no warning lights..don't know if that is true though. The 'warranty repairman' told him it was the power supply, then took two months to install it, so when it didn't fix it he said 'forget it'. The guy then said that it must be the 'computer'...not sure what that could mean though. The bulb does not appear burnt. None of the components appear to have cold solder joints. I have no idea where to start, but figured asking you people may give me a lead. I haven't begun to start checking things with the meter yet, because I'd like to know somewhere to start first, or maybe if I am just missing something someone will tell me. Thank you for your input.

Why is it I feel as if two of you did not read my post? There was no capacitor kit. The warranty repairman in support of the extended warranty put a brand new Power Supply board in the TV. I also tried the 'Menu' and 'Device' combination on the TV, as I also stated, but it's a different day, I'll try it again. As for the power button combination, that's interesting, I'll go play with that right now. I'll also look for the reset switch, I assume you are not referring to the one on the front panel next to the volume controls, if so, I pushed that, it clicks, and it doesn't change anything..but I'll look for the one you are talking about. Not sure where that one could be, but I'll look..Thank you all for your quick responses, I do truly appreciate it!

None of your ideas worked. Leaning towards it being the main board, though I'm not quite sure why the set reset button on the front seems to work, and nothing else does. Seems like that would be connected to the main board somehow, and therefor should not work...don't know, probably need to trace that connection to see where it goes. It almost seems like there is no power from the Power Supply board outwards, but you can hear that energize..like a fuse is out basically. There is quite a few plugs coming off the PS board, so you'd think SOMETHING that it is connected to would work. Maybe it's just a faulty PS Board...possibly need to resolder everything...also tried using a hairdryer on the PCBs..nothing..

The new power supply was made in Mexico... Once I got a close look at the solder joints, I see that it's possible that that cold be the problem. Looks like it was soldered by small children in a preschool. Sloppy... There is extra solder splattered everywhere, cold solder joints, one solder spot that appears broken in two...I don't know. Goin to work on this mess first, and see where it gets me. Y'all keep the suggestions coming. I see 12 experts looked at this and no one had any ideas? At the very least, I will come back on here and be the expert to you when it is done. Deal?

If you have no lights come on the front of TV, you definitely have a power supply issue. Don't know what previous servicer did, but I would be looking at ALL wires & connectors.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WD-52525 was working fine and now it will not turn on

This is just a shot - but it worked with my Sony (same problem).
Pressed remote power on button AND held Power button on TV on at the same time.

Set clicked 4 or 5 times and then came on....

Other, most have a (VERY small) reset switch on the rear - near where the power cord enters the TV... Use a flashlight and a mirror to locate it on your set....

73735 no picture no sound

Are you sure it is turning on? It sounds like your lamp has failed. Look at the LEDs on the front. If one is red then you need to check your lamp. Refer to the troubleshooting section of your manual to determine if the indicator LEDs match the symptoms. If the status light is flashing then your lamp cover is not installed all the way.

I have a mitsubishi 73735 television that is not showing a pcture there is a red lamp light on; on the front of the television does the lamp need changing

Hello, welcome to Fixya!

My question would be; how long have you been using the TV and have you every changed the lamp?

If you have never changed the lamp or if it has been a long time since you changed the lamp, then it means the lamp needs to be changed.

The red lamp staying on, also could mean a power problem. But,in any case, go ahead and change the lamp. Hopefully, it should fix the problem.

Regards.

I just replaced my bulb on my mitsubishi wd-65736 but picture is still dark looking and the bulb stays lit up after we cut the TV off. Could I have hooked the two wires up wrong?

This site lists your service manual for $7.99
https://www.completeservicemanuals.com/mitsubishi/dlp-projection-television/wd-65736-service-manual/prod_1408.html

This site claims to have a free PDF download, but the "free download" link throws you to www.tradebit.com, which sells the service manual (as a downloadable PDF file) for $7.99
http://www.promanuals.com/serviceparts/mitsubishi-wd-60735-wd-65735-wd-73735-wd-65835-wd-73835-wd-60c8-wd-65c8-wd-73c8-wd-65736-wd-73736-service-manual/

This site sells your TV service manual for $5 as a .PDF sent to your email:
http://tv-part.com/index.php?target=products&product_id=1369

If you can read/use a service manual, $5+tax is a lot better than $hundreds for a new television. Or- buy the downloadable manual, and give it to your favorite electronics friend to peruse. The darkness coming from the new lamp might bespeak of a power supply problem, or a poor connection between the lamp and the power supply. The fact that the lamp module stays on after it should go out also says power supply problem.
In the worst case, keep both your lamp modules (they're probably both good), and sell them online to help defray the cost of a new television.

I have a Mitsubishi 73"

I'm sorry, but your looking at an Optical Block Assembly which also includes the DM module. Latest figures are approximately $650.00 to replace. I would have called a service tech out to properly diagnose the problem first. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Sometimes i turn on the wd-73735 tv and it will try to come on, then it will shut off. some times i have to turn it on 2-4 times before it will stay on.

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.
Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV(warranty was expired ofcourse) and found four bulged capacitors. Many electronic companies were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 yearsinstead of 10-20. The capacitors failprematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in allsorts of devices. Here are some options . 1. 1.Have it fixed by a professional 2.
2.Dig into your TV, find PSB, Check for faultycaps. If you find some(bulged orleaking) bad caps replace the entire board 3. 3.Remove and then replace individual faultycaps. This takes some solderingskill. Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourselfit will save you hundreds. Hope this helps

I have dots slowly starting to appear on my wd-73735. I bought the tv in February 2009 and the light engine had to be replaced once in September of last year. now what do I do?

These dots are called pixels and if they are a certain color, they are stuck. If they are black, they are dead. You can't do anything about to fix the dots neither the service without the replacement of the display (screen)
