According to the specs of that computer, it is supposed to have a HDMI output. If for some odd reason you do not have one, you can get a VGA to HDMI adapter.

you need something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/VGA-to-S-Video-RCA-Adaptor/dp/B000P3UB24 - but you may also need to see if the VGA display adapter supports the output, sometimes this also needs to be enabled to get it to work - other times it works just by using the VGA output switch - which will be one of the F keys look for a symbol of a screen and then use that F key and the FN key together to toggle the output from <laptop only><laptop and VGA output><VGA only>not necessarily in that order. The HDMI is a digital signal out and to convert to analogue for the TV will need an expensive convertor

We are running our DV-7 with a 20 foot high quality HDMI cable with no frop out or interference. The DV-7 has a decent video chip and will push the signal without incident.

Contact HP. They have copies of it that you can buy. They should be available unless the version of windows is obsolete.

Hi there,

You need a purchase a new cable. I assume your HP pavilion is under 5 years old. And you should have a white DVI port in the back for a monitor. If you do have that connector, then all you need is a DVI - HDMI cable, make sure the DVI will be to the computers end and HDMI to the monitor.

Replacing the Power Supply in HP Pavilion p6000 p6 1000 and p6 2000... This is a common power supply that can be purchased just about any computer retailer - BestBuy, MicroCenter, Amazon.
Very cheaply priced, very functional. Even the generic brands.

Normally the computer will detect that you have hooked in the HDMI cable and will automatically send an signal to the HDMI cable. It sounds like the "automagic" didn't work.

What you need to do is press fn+f4 to cycle the display mode to send a signal through the HDMI port. This works in a multi-mode way. You hold down fn and press f4 one time. Don't let go of fn and you should see a mode indicator on the laptop display. Each time you press f4 it will cycle to another mode. Depending on your specific configuration you might need to cycle through VGA first to get to HDMI.
