My ipod mini 4gig has been corrupted. trying to restore but unfortunately it wont. it is just showing an apple icon and a triangle with a exclamation point. when connected to a computer it does not...

There are many iPod error icons with exclamation marks

The Sad iPod icon (93936_4.gif ) usually means that the iPod can't access it's Hard Drive. I've seen that hitting the ipod on a soft surface occasionally fixes this. You may need to take the iPod for repair

The Folder Error icon (93936_1.gif) may mean the battery is low, the ipod needs to be reset, restored or needs a service

The Battery Icon (93936_2.gif) usually means the battery needs charging

93936_3.gif means a disk scan failed and will be repeated when the ipod is turned on or reset.

Try restoring it continuouly until it does (eventually worked for mine)

if it is anything else, your iPod may need repair.

Good Luck!

My Ipod Video 30 GB shows a sad face. What do i do?

It looks like there is some kind of software problem with your iPod.
First, power up your iPod (showing the sad face). Try pressing the center and menu buttons at the same time, and holding it like this until the iPod shuts off (after about 5 seconds). This should 'force-restart' the iPod.
If this doesn't work, plug your iPod into your computer, open iTunes, select your iPod in the left-hand menu and click Restore. Note that all songs/photos/videos will be erased by this procedure.
Should this also fail, you can try leaving your iPod turned on (with the sad face), and wait for the battery to completely run out (the iPod should not turn on at all anymore). Leave the iPod unpowered for about an hour, recharge it, and retry the above steps.
Hope this helped,
tS

Flashing icons while charging... am I really charging?

If the iPod is showing the "Sad iPod face" icon, this means that the hard drive inside the iPod (located on the logic/circuit board) has died/failed and needs to be replaced. If you plan on replacing this part, you may also need to purchase and solder a new battery to the iPod logic board if you were to do it yourself.

Nano and iPod "Color"

Upon first glance it would be safe to assume that the iPod nano is a "micro" version of the iPod "Color" models, and in a few ways this is a safe statement. Both systems use the "Clickwheel" (which places pressure sensitive navigation buttons underneath the scroll wheel), have color displays, have software that uses color for all interface elements and applications, use the "Myriad" font, and are capable of displaying photographs in addition to playing music and transporting files. At 3.5 inches tall, 1.6 inches wide, and 0.27 inches thick the iPod nano is both physically smaller, compared to 4.1 inches tall, 2.4 inches wide, and 0.75 inches thick for the iPod "Color" models, and holds less data on 2.0 GB or 4.0 GB of Flash Memory, compared to 20 GB, 30 GB, 40 GB, or 60 GB hard drives for the iPod "Color" models. However, there are also some important differences between the iPod nano and iPod "Color" models as well. Unlike the iPod "Color" models, the iPod nano lacks video out, and as a result, can display photographs on the internal display "loaded" from a computer, but cannot display photographs on a television or projector. The iPod nano also does not support the iPod Camera Connector or third-party solutions, so photos cannot be transferred from a camera either. However, in addition to the calendar, contacts, and notes software from previous models, the iPod nano includes additional software functionality, such as a "Screen Lock" security feature, a stopwatch, and a "world clock".
