Maytag MGR 7661 Gas Range: How do I adjust the door to tighten the closure against the seal?

The door does not seat tightly against the seal at the top of the door leaving a 0.25 in. gap. Hot air from the oven heats the stove valves above the door and they stick or are even inoperable. The door hinge does not seem to be adjustable.

The problem is either in the oven control or the element (in some cases could be both). You will need a meter to check the resistance on the elements as well as power to the element. Remember this is 240 volts and very dangerous. If your not comfortable with it call a professional.

SOURCE: hook up oven door on maytag gas range

You likely need to lock the hinge in open position to do it. Either there is a small lever on the hinge itself you need to flip when the hinge is in the open position or there is a hole in the hinge, where you need to insert a steel pin (you can use screws, but they bend somewhat ;)) to hold the hinge open

How do you remove the oven door from a Maytag MGR 5780 range. I cannot see any latches on the hinges

There aren't any latches on the Maytag MGR5780 oven door hinges. You should be able to open the door to the first stop (about 4" from the closed position). Then grab the sides of the door and lift the door up at that same angle until the door clears both hinge arms. Manage My Life has the manual for the MGR5780 here: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/25316/MAYTAG-Free-Standing,-Gas-L0303326 . See page 15 (16 of the PDF) for a picture of the door open to the first stop position. You will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to read the manual.

I hope this helps.

Maytag Model MSD2454GRW side by side - the refrig door is not sealing tight about halfway down the door. Is there a adjustment I can make to help to door seal properly?

Hello,
Check to be sure the frig is sitting level. You should have leveling adjustment on each side below the doors and behind the grille. Also, on the bottom door hinge (usually fridge side) should be an adjustment to raise or lower the door to align the doors. After that if you simply have a deformed seal you can try carefully heating the seal with a hair dryer to soften it and should smooth out the wrinkles. Be careful not to over heat the seal. Good Luck

MAYTAG JETCLEAN QUIET PACK

hi Replacing the Door Gasket

If water leaks through the dishwasher door, the gasket is probably faulty. Open the door and examine the gasket. It should be soft and resilient. If it's worn, cracked, or hard, it should be replaced.

Once the gasket is in place, check it for fit against the door frame. It should fit tightly with no cracks or bulges between the gasket and the frame. If necessary, tighten or loosen the retaining screws, or refit the gasket in the clips or the door channel. Then run the machine through a washing sequence and check for leaks.

If you spot a leak, and the gasket seems to be properly in place, try adjusting the door latch. The trick is to position the gasket against the frame of the door without flattening the gasket or squeezing it too flat when the door is latched properly. Adjust the latch or the gasket until it fits snugly against the door frame.

Oven door hinge adjustment...?

Regarding the oven door not closing all the way and dropping suddernly to the floor, I called a local authorized service company and asked if there was a door spring (no). So the recommended solution is to have the hinges replaced. However, since the oven door didn't really hold its open position from the beginning, when it was brand new back in 01, I'm going to see if a new Viking oven has the same defect as ours. Then, it would seem like a good idea to take a chance on having it repaired.

Is replacing a set of oven door hinges something a person with reasonable mechanical aptitude can do?

Range mgr 5745 sealed burner

Yes the burner does twist off. You must turn it counter clockwise about 1/4 of a turn. These can be stuburn at times so what you might want to do is strike it sharply down with the heal of your hand first then give it a twist. this seems to help.
