You have probably found out now that you would need to get your digital reception by connecting a set top box to the LG, say to AV1, then select AV1 when making a recording.
Connect the vcr to the dvd recorder via scart. Set TV to your usual dvd channel and power on dvd. Power on vcr and scroll through input channels (AV etc) on dvd recorder until you find the signal from vcr. Prepare the recorder ready to record, then play the vcr and start the dvd to record.

If u have a dvd recorder that is well and good and your television should have a audio and video output jack behind the television just connect the rca cable to the audio and video output on the tv and connect to the audio and video input on the dvd recorder and when u want to record something make sure that program is running on ur television and click the record button the dvd recorder so that it will catch the reception from the television and record it on the dvd.
It sounds as if the actual T/V channel is out of tune.
I,d suggest powering the player On.
Then using channel 8-12 on the T/V to Scan for its frequency.
When you,ve located it to the Player.
Lock the channel, then use the DVD on Channel 8-12.

p.s also check the output from DVD To T/V lead has,nt come loose.
