I have tried connecting my Motorola DCT6412 III using the HDMI connection to my Sony Bravia HD TV and it will not work. TV says it is not receiving a signal. TV works with coaxial connection.

I have a DCT6416 which is essentially the same unit but with a bigger hardrive. I just had the same problem and was able to fix it.
First connect your DVR to your TV with the composite RGB cables and disconnect the HDMI. Then power your unit on. Then power it off (using the power on the DVR not a remote) and immediatly press the menu button on the DVR (not the remote). A white screen with black writing will come up. Using the down arrow buttons on your DVR go to the bottom line where it says "reset factory default" Toggle down to that and then use the right arrow key and your settings will be reset. Then exit out of that by powering off. Now remove your composite cables and replace the HDMI. You should be back up and running.

When connecting motorola dct6412 to samsung tv, blu-ray player & avr via HDMI (DVI), do you run the HDMI from dvd & cable box to the avr, then seperate HDMI to the tv?

If you have more than one HDMI port on your TV,
run one HDMI cable from the DCT6412 to the TV,
and one HDMI cable from the BluRay unit to the TV.
Then, use the "source" (or "input") control on the TV's remote-control to select either 'HDMI1' or 'HDMI2'.

I have connected my Charter HDTV settop box to the strdh700 in the 'sat in' hdmi connection, then connected the 'out' hdmi to my sony bravia tv and the signal isn't getting there. any suggestions?

If you're not getting the audio signal, please select the Audio for HDMI to TV+AMP in Menu display. If you're not getting the videos, please check if the TV is HD ready and supports 1080p signals. Also check if the connections are firm and secure and you selected the correct input on both Receiver and TV. Please try connect the Settop box to different HDMI port of the receiver and try. You can also try connecting the Set top box to tv directly and check if its working. If its working fine directly with the TV, you may try to replace the cable and try else the receiver may require service

Hello, There is an update for your TV at Sony Support and I would strongly  recommend to call Sony Support to update your TV as firmware updating firmware is risky job for novice and TV firmware can be damaged and TV will shut down.

Probably need a software upgrade. Contact Sony for that information. This would be a common fix in most sistuations when using HDMI.
