Brother Intellifax-4100e changing Pick up roller

theres a flat rubber seperator it has a springy metal backing on it, on the part that opens up on the feeder that is probably worn out.
Best way is to replace it ...its a cheap part. you can clean it real good with alchohol, and it may work better for a while but the part should be replaced.it applies pressure to the roller and seperated the second sheet from feeding

I have a fax line with packet8 which is a voip carrier. I am having trouble receiving faxes. I was told to change the baud rate on the fax to less than 9600. I don't know how to do it on my brother intellifax 4100e. can you advise?

HI there when its ring press the START button and let me know the result.

1. Open the front cover and then
press Clear.
2. Press 1 to reset.

However, the drum may be defective and causing the noise. Try a different one if you can.

when the paper pick up roller is dirty, ( with the dust) the paper can not be loaded properly, to avoid this problem clean the pick up roller softly with alcohol, use a brush you msut touch the entire surface of the roller, do not forget the separation pad clean it,

Scroll through the SETUP MENUS and disable sleep mode

Try changing the sleep mode settings. Sometimes it's set too long or too short. You can try the perimeter reset as well. The instructions I have for that is as follows:

hit the menu button and numbers *2864 (star before the four numbers)
then hit 91(set) wait a few seconds for the maintenance screen to return
then hit 99(set) when it beeps saying completed that could fix your problem.

The machine is set with the sleep mode as a default. The fax part can be changed to recieve a fax by pressing the fax mode button. Press it until it says Fax only, not F/T. F/T means Fax/Telephone. This mode would make it to where you have to pick up the reciever and press start when a fax comes in. The Fax only mode means it will pick up everytime a fax comes in automatically. Once you have changed the drum unit on Brother 4100 you will need to keep the front door open and then press the option button. Your dispay should give show you a drum change option. press 1 to change drum and the machine should show "accepted" after a few seconds. Afterwards, close the door.
