The fuse is just inside the tip that plugs in the car lighter. You screw it off and out comes the fuse. As for the fuse you can go to any local electronics store with the fuse that you get out of the charger and ask if they have it.

When I plug my Garmin Nuvi 765T into my car charger, it does not charge. Has the cord gone bad? Can I charge my Garmin through my computer?

The fuse may have blown in the charger. THe fuse is in the plug that goes into the cigarette lighter socket. Unscrew the ring near the tip of the socket being careful not to lose the tip. The socket comes apart when you remove the ring. Replace the fuse and it should be ok.

You can charge the satnav from your computer but it will take around 8 hours, twice as long as the car charger. Just connect it to your computer and turn both on to charge it.

My Garmin nuvi 265 was working fine until 2 weeks ago. We got a screen message saying that the XM traffic was not supported, and then noticed that the unit no longer could be charged using the car...

The traffic receiver is in the car charger cable. The charger should have a red light on if it is getting power. If the light is on and the unit is not charging and you have no traffic, the charger cable is bad. If the light is off, then either the fuse did not fix the problem, blew again, or is somehow not sitting properly in the charger. Another thing you can check is by using the unit in another vehicle. If it works fine there, then the charger is not making good contact with your vehicle outlet for some reason. You will probably have to buy a new traffic receiver charging cable.

My car charger will not charge battery in garmin Nuvi 760

The fuse may be gone in the charger. There's a ring, near the silver tip, of the plug that goes into the cigarette lighter. If you unscrew the ring the plug will come apart. Take care not to lose the silver tip as it may fall out. Replace the fuse and it may solve the problem.

I lost my Garmin Nuvi 205 car charger and wanted to know what i could replace it with or what the charging voltage required is, perhaps i have a spare cell phone charger that would work.

You can buy a new car charger for your GPS from this site:
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=13429#accessoryTab
It should be situated under the accessory tab

I am not sure about the voltage of the device, but it should say somewhere on the unit, the unit's box or the instruction booklet

I have 765T Garmin. It won't charge from cigarette lighter. REturned first Garmin to company, got a "newly refurbished" unit, so it's different. Still won't charge from car. Cable lights up,...

if its an oem garmin charger and the green light is on and still wont charge, then the problem is most likely the power port on the back of your garmin...if its not the factory charger, get one for a garmin..that should solve your problem...if not, let me know

let me know if you need more help or info

My garmin nuvi 260 will not take a charge

garmin navs are famous for there chargers burning out. first check the fuse at the end of the 12v car charger by unscrewing the tip of.if its blown replace it. if its not blown then the charger has burned out there are after market chargers but only garmin chargers will work!! as garmin use a sensor to detect the correct type of charger is connected so be sure to buy a genuine garmin 12v charger

best of luck
please take the time to rate this repair.thanks

My garmin 340 suddenly stopped working

Ummmmm "Low battery"....... not too hard to figure out. You need to charge it for several hours. If the battery is low it WILL go out on you and during that time, the battery may recover enough to come on briefly then go off again. Please charge your battery!

Garmin 340 streetpilot won't even turn on?

I had the same issue with mine during a trip. Probably needs to be reset. See page 31 of the users manual on Resetting your c340. Once I did this it worked fine.

Internal battery won't charge

Common issue. Steps to troubleshoot/solve:
1. Pull off face, press reset tab.
2. If unit wont turn on or if turns off immediately, connect to home computer using mini usb on side of gps (any usb cord that fits will do). This will charge the internal gps battery, which is discharged.
3. You will not be able to see the gps charge indicator while the usb cord is plugged into the unit. To check charge level, disconnect it, turn it on, and note the large "battery" icon.
4 Do you have a dead internal battery? If the gps holds a charge from your computer usb port, you don't.
5. If you have a dead battery, Google DIY replacement. With some soldering it can done for $15 total.
6. If you don't have a dead battery, the issue is charging from the cigarette lighter socket. Your car socket may have blown a fuse (check car manual). Your charger unit may have blown a fuse (unscrew the tip, check fuse inside). Also, some car sockets don't work when the ignition is off. Test yours.
7. There is a good chance the connection of the charger wire to the gps cradle is the problem. Fiddle with that. Replacement cradles are available for the c340 at about $25.
8. If your unit is not charging from the cradle/socket, buy a 12v usb cord. Plug into socket and into usb port of the gps. This is a workaround or alternative to buying a new cradle.
9. IMPORTANT: observe the "battery" icon while driving, esp. if you have doubts about charging. Basically, if you can see the icon, you're not connected to an outside (car or computer) power source. That is, if you can see the battery-charge indication, it means your battery is currently discharging and unless you get another power source to work it will be dead in a few hours.
